    Vision Jet

I’ve always viewed Cirrus skeptically. They’re an OK airplane, but the parachute marketing causes me to roll my eyes to the point of spraining them. With that in mind, I found this comparison of light jets fascinating. Assuming it’s accurate, Cirrus underperforms.
  2. Mine didn’t.
  3. Not exclusively software, but I have found the Flightinsight and Flying like the Pros videos on YouTube helpful. Flight Insight does offer an online product. You can preview for free. Flying Like the Pros hasn’t posted in a long time, but their G1000 videos are excellent.
  4. Check with counsel about adding the company as a named insured on your policy, and ask what liability limits would make them comfortable.
  5. It has been a bit like throwing a match into a gas can…. I blame myself.
  6. Ahh, you’re one of those “because I said so” types… I’ll be watching you from now on…
  7. Secondary combustion event? I can only envision that if unburned fuel is passing through the exhaust valves with sufficient remaining oxygen to allow for combustion, which is certainly possible ROP, but LOP I wouldn’t think so? But even if that’s the case, I’m having a hard time with this concept. I would think TIT would be an average of all six combustion events, rather than somehow additive to temperature? I don’t know what I don’t know, so I’m not saying I’m right, just trying to parse this out to make it more understandable.
  8. How is it possible to have a turbine inlet temperature higher that any of the individual EGT’s? It would seem that the gasses entering the turbo would be downstream of the EGT probes, and the temp should be an average of the six EGT’s, but maybe I’m thinking about this wrong.

  10. Yes.

  13. From Bloomberg Flights into the Dallas area are being forced to take older, cumbersome routes and a runway at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport has been closed after aviation authorities said GPS signals there aren’t reliable. The Federal Aviation Administration said in an emailed statement Tuesday it’s investigating the possible jamming of the global-positioning system that aircraft increasingly use to guide them on more efficient routes and to runways. So far, the agency has found “no evidence of intentional interference,” it said. American Airlines Group Inc., the primary carrier at DFW, said the GPS issue is not affecting its operations. Southwest Airlines Co., which flies from Love Field, didn’t immediately comment. Despite the lack of flight disruptions, the GPS problem demonstrates the risks of widespread reliance on weak radio signals from space used for everything from timing stock trades to guiding jetliners.
  14. Byerly did nice work for me. But due to their workload they are recommending Bohm Aviation in Pekin. The owner, Naomi Bohm, is an A&P IA who has done a lot of work on Mooneys. I believe she used to work for Byerly and started out on her own recently. They did a great job on my Acclaim.
  15. Found one. Only took 68 phone calls.
  16. Thank you. You have the correct part number. Just called. Backordered.
  17. Pulling the fire alarm. Anybody know where I could get a piston pin for this engine? Apparently they’re pretty scarce right now.
  18. Thought it might relate to the port. But must admit I haven’t looked into it. Will try the boost next time I fly and let you know.
  19. My Acclaim doesn’t die, but it stumbles when you turn. I have a hard time believing it has anything to do with the GAMI’s. Always assumed it was a fuel sloshing around in the tank issue. It’s not an idle problem.

  21. This goes back to my original point. Flight trackers don’t show an airport landing and show flight origination at 7:45, not the 5 am reported in the APP article. Suggests some real issues with flight trackers.
  22. https://apnews.com/article/tupelo-mississippi-plane-pilot-threatens-to-crash-0fa4f27949ea5a547de2c2989ac366c6 Says he landed.
  23. Apparently an FBO employee based upon current reports.
  24. Bad situation unfolding with a pilot threatening to crash a KingAir in MS. https://www.wtva.com/news/tupelo-pd-issues-statement-about-plane-crash-threat/article_050bc240-2b82-11ed-9168-07ee994a2459.html But an interesting related note. I looked up the flight on RadarBox, Planefinder and FlightAware. RadarBox has apparently blocked the tracking of the flight. Planefinder show it going in a straight line, and Flightaware appears to show the actual track. Good to know if you use any of them to track your own flights. I have previously found RadarBox to miss things, but the Planefinder straight track is concerning.
  25. Well, I’m rather partial to this one.
