  1. Scott was purchased by Avox, now Safran. We bought Sky-Ox, and own the Sky-Ox STC for thier installed systems, which go back several decades. We are actually looking at those STC’s to see if there is a way to update them but it’s going to be a while to got through that process. Even supporting the old Skyox parts is next to impossible because of parts availability. Scott
  2. Here is the regulation on Steel Cylinders - § 173.302a Additional requirements for shipment of non-liquefied (permanent) compressed gases in specification cylinders. DOT 3HT cylinders. These cylinders are authorized for aircraft use only and only for nonflammable gases. They have a maximum service life of 24 years from the date of manufacture. The cylinders must be equipped with frangible disc type pressure relief devices that meet the requirements of § 173.301(f). Each frangible disc must have a rated bursting pressure not exceeding 90 percent of the minimum required test pressure of the cylinder. Discs with fusible metal backing are not permitted. Specification 3HT cylinders may be offered for transportation only when packaged in accordance with § 173.301(a)(9). Scott
  3. Yep - we are sponsoring again this year so I will be there all weekend. Scott
  4. Sure! I remember! The EMT has a switchable regulator so you can turn it on and off. The PrO2's have an activation key that starts the flow and continues until empty in the event of a decompression event. The PrO2 also comes with more options on cylidner size and number of users.... Coming back to FL any time soon? Scott
  5. If you are really concerned about an oxygen emergency, we have a one place emergency descent system that we produce for pressurized airplanes that gives between 20 and 40 minutes of oxygen in a reusable system. We sell it for pressurized aircraft mostly but it would fit right in the seat back and give you a good reliable backup. Most of the failures I have heard about have been due to the user pulling the tube off the Flowmeter accidentally. Search the ASRS reposts too. I only found one incident and this is what it was. PM me and I will sent you a link or good PrO2. scott
  6. You also cannot force the government to enforce their own regulations, if they choose not to. We found this out in our litigation against the town of East Hampton. If the FAA chooses to not enforce Grant Assurances, citizens have no course of action to force them to do so. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I haven’t done a single flight yet where I don’t look back at my 201 before I leave and think “jeez I love this airplane”
  8. Nearly every make/model has a single organization representing it - COPA, ABS, PMOPA, POPA, etc. everyone has great intentions, and we are a devoted group, but we should be able to figure this out.
  9. Just outside Hangar A!
  10. The ironic part is that Jason Zilderbrand from VREF was on the AOPA podcast within the last two weeks. It seems like something suddenly changed. I don’t think they would have had him on if there was any acrimony in the corporate relationship at the time.
  11. Welcome aboard. You’ll love this plane! I’ve got an 85 s/n 1533 based APF. Scott
  12. It’s a Scott/Avox altitude compensating regulator - the altitude compensator can be very finicky and is expensive to replace if it’s bad. When was the last time the system was bench tested? Do you have a flow meter that you use with your cannula? That will tell you f you are getting enough flow….
  13. BAS has one listed on Partsbase.
  14. I bought 1533 from Jimmy a year and a half ago. Very similar spec but w an Aero Comfort new interior. Happy to share my experience with you if you want to chat. Cell is 860-866-6750. scott
  15. PM my your RMA number and I'll throw some Aerox swag in the box when they ship back to you.... Scott
  16. This is a big reason why I bought this airplane. It’s what you expect for a high end aircraft. Don’t hesitate. You won’t be disappointed….
  17. Just put a new cap and harness on order and we are starting over with new points and condenser and harness. Hopefully we will know more next week….the harness looks like original ‘85 vintage so if that’s not it we are out of ideas. After three sets of points failing after five hours each, we’re thinking an issue somewhere else in the system…
  18. More trouble today - four hours after replacing the mag with another exchange unit the left mag points were failing again. Pre takeoff mag check was perfect, and flight test yesterday was perfect. By the time I got to altitude and set up cruise flight, I couldn’t get it run LOP and then tried the In flight mag check and the left side was super rough with a big RPM drop. Got back to base and did another mag check on the ground and it was super rough on the left mag and the tach was bouncing around - same symptoms as before. Third failure of points in 12 hours since replacing the original mag with 750 hours on it that worked fine. So the saga continues.
  19. No it was under warranty....flew it today and yesterday - fired right up and ran great. Did the Savvy in flight mag checks and they looked good too. I pulled the data from the last flight and you could see where two cylidners went awry mid flight.. I'm hoping this is the last I have to think about this for a while now....
  20. Not to belabor this, but we did pull the mag and returned it to Kelly - they found that the points on one side were bad and needed to be replaced after only 3 hours TIS. Ugh. Anyway, she's back flying now and running great and only 497 hours until I go full dual electronic!
  21. Well done - there is nothing out there but trees and the CT River. That's the second emergency landing that track has hosted. What was the issue that caused the landing? Glad you are safe and that you found that track.
  22. On one mag, one and two dropped off and three and four acted normal. Engine backfired a bit too. With that I’m leaning toward two bad plugs. They are getting pulled tomorrow so I guess I just have to wait and see. It actually gives me hope that they don’t have to pull the mag again.
  23. I just had my dual mag exchanged with a Kelly dual mag after 750 hours time in service with the old dual mag on my 201 . The First flight or two after the exchange were great and the Savvy flight test profile that I ran showed everything well matched regarding the in-flight mag check. went to go flying this morning and on the run up, the left mag showed little drop and the right mag dropped over 400 rpm, though it continued to run. On the second run up the engine was backfiring during the run up. is it plausible that the timing on the right mag “walked”. The mechanic who did the install will look at it on Monday but I’m curious as to what’s going on…. thanks Scott
  24. Try Southern Cross in FXE. Was just there and they have shelves of them. I’m headed there in the morning to pick one up coincidentally after leaving my master switch on (long story) and it was time for a new one anyway….
