  1. I transitioned from a Cessna 172 into a 1989 Mooney M20M Bravo, but I had another 50 hours in the right seat in my friend @John Orcutt Rocket. I also spent many hours with a knowledgeable instructor who trained me appropriately in the Bravo. I eased into the plane and gradually increased my cross country flight distance over a year or so. I am approaching 700 hours and really enjoy the plane. It ain't cheap tho. I the last 3 years, I have spent over 125K ++++ on MOH, landing gear actuator, turbo OH, controller OH, etc etc. The list goes on and on. Oil changes/samples every 25 hrs. You name it, I bought it. My insurance hovers around+/- 3800/yr on a 150K hull value. I am not concerned with insuring 200-250K hull values. I'll self insure. That's another reason I like the Mooney M20M. Additionally, safety is very important to me and I do not mind spending money on deferred maintenance. Planes are a money pit, but it affords me the ability to travel back and forth to Ohio and Louisiana from Tucson when I want to (weather permitting). Flying is a challenging, rewarding and fun hobby for me. That's why I love it. @donkayeis correct, plan on 40K a year
  2. I fly 13,5 from Tucson to Ohio (maybe an hour at 15,5) with my dog, no issues whatsoever.
  3. I've used Phillips X/C 20W50 in my Bravo since I purchased it.
  4. I love this carbon monoxide detector, purchased it off of Amazon. I like it because it has both visual and auditory alerts,

  6. Depends on my altitude, but usually bring back MP inch a minute while in the descent with speed brakes deployed. With the summertime heat and wind gusts in AZ, it really helps with the stability.
  7. I have used full flaps on shorter runways, like 2R7 with a 3000 foot runway. Thanks for the reminder, Don.
  8. Good point, in the Bravo, I usually land flaps in the "take off" position just in case I need to go around.
  9. I use my speed breaks on the descent and during landing. It allows me a steady 500 foot per minute descent, and it also helps my Bravo "stick" to the runway, especially in the hot summer, gusty environments that we have here in the desert Southwest.
  10. What did that fuel cost you
  11. Oh, wow I didn't know about this feature! Here's my recap:
  12. I need to update my interior, and I never thought I would say this but I kinda like the vinyl look! Seems like it would be very durable, practical, and easy to keep clean.
  13. That's awesome, these engines are hard to come by these days, and OH take forever.
  14. Yes! Especially when removing the scavenge pump
  15. Look at that beautiful red paint! So clean. Wait, no blow by oil on that belly yet ?!
  16. This vertical stabilizer was part of N1085W, and if I remember correctly, (The only reason I remember this is because I fly N1085G) I am sorry to hear about your plane.
  17. Is that Prop Park West?
  18. Bravo, normal.
  19. The only increase in useful load I can obtain in my Bravo is with less fuel !!!!
  20. I give mine a cash tip, they know they're appreciated.
  21. What a great photo and knowledge.
  22. This was passed along to me during my MOH, this is the only one that I have.
  23. This is 800310, hopefully it may help M20M Wiring Diagram.pdf
  24. That's my norm right there. I'm in Tucson. I have to climb to altitude slowly to avoid anything over 400.
