    Interesting thread. it made me think about the advantage of ensuring prior to getting airborne that both tanks can sustain engine operation. I will have to think about this a bit more. My standard procedure: Land on fuller tank. Start, run up, take off on same tank. 1 hour into flight, or while near an airport, I switch tanks.

    I am about to embark on this same install in a '67 E. I have the 201 windshield so I expect it to be a royal PIA. I plan on removing an EDM-700, the 6-pack, tach/fuel press and MP gauge. It should be worth the hassle as the instrument panel will be much cleaner once completed.

    CiES, yes please, make this a feature. I'm close to deciding on a multi-year panel upgrade path and would love to incorporate a low-fuel warning indication. BTW, I'm also in Bend and have a list of questions. Can I stop by your shop on Wilson in a few weeks?

    I've been wonder about this as well. However, after many long flights using the data from EDM-700, a stopwatch, and detailed refuel records, I've come to the conclusion that the OEM fuel gauges are garbage and completely unreliable. I'm contemplating whether spending the money on the CiES sensors would improve the fuel quantity indications.

    I'm in the early phase of planning upgrades for the next few years and the HDX setup appears to be very appealing. However customer support is crucial. I'll follow this thread as I'm seeking similar answers yet haven't had a negative experience like you have.

    My '67 E has the same configuration with the seal of the baggage door on the fuselage and the seal for the cabin door on the door itself. The seal on the cabin door looks to be in pretty good shape, it's the baggage door seal that has fallen apart.

    That's the same kit that I ordered.

    My E has weather stripping both on the door and on the fuselage. The IPC for my vintage shows it on the fuselage only. I think one of the previous owners must have added their own on the baggage compartment door. I placed an order this morning for the Aircraft Door Seals part and will see how well it fits/works. It is about 1/3 the cost of the OEM part, is FAA approved and is getting good reviews. Though I considered regular weather stripping for a split second, I am going to go the FAA approved route on this since it isn't really that much money.

    The rubber seal on the baggage door of my '67 M20E is definitely past it's "use by" date and I'm looking at replacement options. PN is 912018-501. I've come across an aftermarket door seal by Aircraft Door Seals, LLC. and was wondering if anybody has any feedback on this product, good or bad. Aircraft Door Seals, LLC .

    I flew RDM to VNY a couple days ago weaving in and out of all the TFRs in NorCal and most of the route was good viz except for a stretch between Fresno and Tehachapi. I was between 7.5K and 10.5K trying to find some air with good enough visibility to remain VFR. At times the ground wasn't visible. Flight visibility at times was around 3sm.

    I found a mechanic that was willing to do a prebuy at the end of the week.

    I found a Mooney mechanic that can do the prebuy in a few days. Several mechanics that I talked to over the last couple of days were booked up for a few weeks, indicating that there are lots of airplanes being looked at.

    I'm looking to buy a '67 E model located in Camarillo, CA and need help finding a good mechanic that can do a prebuy for me. Any help in finding someone is greatly appreciated.

    Can anyone refer a good and knowledgeable mechanic in Ventura or LA county in California that could do a prebuy on a '67 M20E for me? That airplane is located at KCMA Camarillo, CA and just came out of annual with a good bill of health.

    Thanks, that what I'm realizing. I found a flight school in Chino that has a M20B and am trying to get a few hours with them before I pick up my airplane. I'll keep you in mind once I'm looking for more advanced training down the road.

    I'm moving closer to owning my first Mooney M20F. While the purchase process is going through its motions, I'd like to get a headstart and receive some type specific ground and flight training from a knowledgeable CFI and Mooney owner. I will be near Fullerton, CA over the next couple of weeks, so anything in that area including Long Beach, Bracket, Cable, Ontario, Riverside, John Wayne, San Bernardino, etc. would suit my needs. If this is something that would work for you or you know someone that would be interested, please let me know. Thanks.
