Great Aircraft Detailer in Central Florida
Speed Merchant posted a topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
I am looking for someone to detail my 201 in the Central Florida area. I would like to get it ceramic coated. Anyone have any suggestions or a referral? Thanks! Curt -
Thanks Adam. Just because the Ram Air was removed doesn't mean you can't reactivate with the one that comes with the kit.

Jesse Those parts will have to come from Mooney or a salvage yard.

Anyone had a Garmin flat panel display fail in flight?
Speed Merchant replied to PT20J's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
My G3X quit three times on one flight. I was shooting practice approaches in VFR condition. It went blank and three or four minutes later came back on. I took it to my avionics shop and they called Garmin. Garmin sent a new unit after they reviewed the data files that showed it failing. I told the avionics shop that I thought it was temperature related and they said that was not the cause of the problem according to Garmin. When I picked my plane I could hear a louder avionics fan running...... hmmmmm. Never a problem with the new one. The day it failed was a typical hot Florida day. -
Fuel Flow Gauge Not Working on a 1980 231
Speed Merchant replied to Speed Merchant's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
The plane has a JPI 830. My friend's question was if he can legally fly with an inop gauge. Thanks! The first 171 M20K models (all 1979) built had a pressure style FF indicator, they were almost all changed out to flow instruments via SIM20-49. I looked into getting mine repaired but it was cost-prohibitive. Thanks I will pass the info on. Appreciate it. -
Fuel Flow Gauge Not Working on a 1980 231

Thanks I will pass it on. -
A friend of mine is considering buying a 231. The stock MAP/Fuel Flow gauge is not working on the fuel flow side. Are fuel flow components for the stock gauge available? Is there a STC that allows removal of the stock gauge other than the JPI 930? Thanks

Al Mooneys last project plane photo?
Speed Merchant replied to Tommooney's topic in General Mooney Talk
Yes I am familiar with it. My brother Jim was Al's protege. Sort of a cool design. I visited them at Camarillo a couple of times. Jim and Al used to drink bourbon and smoke cigars after work. Al was a great guy. They had alot of fun working together. Jim learned a lot from Al. Jim showed Al about CAD design and computers. Like a lot of great planes this one ran short of funding . -

I just received a renewal notice for insurance on my 201. It went up again. What should a pilot with 6k hours total time with 1k in Mooneys expect to pay? My renewal is $2800. That seems high to me but maybe that is just how it is right now. The quote was with Global. Thanks!
