  1. I did they use Carling switches like the Mooneys. I think they look to big. Also they add a circuit breaker for eahj c/b switch.
  2. I am going to use MS stainless steel circuit breaker toggle switches. They are very high reliability and with them there is no need to add C/Bs. I am also using stainless steel switch guards. A friend just installed them on his Velocity. Sort of a retro look-- like a 65 XKE.
  3. Mooney developed an installed power chart as part of the graphs list in the original post. To develop this chart the test plane is instrumented with a torque meter that installs between the engine crankshaft flange and prop. From the in flight torque reading and RPM you get horsepower. Flying the plane with the induction system and exhaust installed at different altitudes yields much truer results than testing an engine static on the ground (at one altitude) without the actual prop and exhaust installed. Installed charts are much different from the ground based charts. Most of the methodology used to develop the charts was spear headed by a guy named Eddie Allen at Boeing during early WWII. He was the father of performance flight testing.
  4. not much help from Mooney Curt,Mooney doesn't have any retrofit approved options to install the later style switches. The only approved switches are what is called out in the schematics or Parts Manual.Stacey EllisService Center ManagerMooney International Corporation
  5. Thanks! I will give them a call
  6. Thank you sooo much for the amazing write up I really appreciate your help. That is exactly what I needed! Have an awesome day! Curt
  7. Hi Norman Thanks I will contact them. My bird goes to Sebastian Avionics in Merritt Island tomorrow for its new panel. I have got to get an answer quickly. What do you think of my replacing the rocker switches with toggle switches with stainless steel guards? High reliability toggle circuit breaker switches are available. It is kind of a retro look , I friend of mine just used them on his Velocity they looked great. Thanks
  8. The Power Flow is a great product- They work well on an E or F. They still provide benefit on the J models but not as much because of the better exhaust on the J.
  9. You should check the cost of new cylinders for the IO-390- I have heard less than glowing reports also
  10. I am looking for the switch parts numbers for the ETA. The maintenance manual says see 800 330 (E7) for my serial (1443) but the copy is not legible. Can anyone help me with the part numbers for the foll0wing? I am trying to the part number, contact rating and amp rating for each. Master Switch Radio Master Switch Strobe Lights Switch Landing Lights Switch Pitot Heat Switch Elev Trim Switch Boost Pump Switch Thanks
  11. wow-quite a collection but my bird has ETAs Thanks
  12. I am considering replacing the the stock ETA rocker switches in my 201 with ETA's 3120 series. Has anyone tried the 3120s? Thanks
  13. Hi Glen I hear you like your Mooney. I love mine. I am about to have my panel updated and am trying to replace all of the switches. Finding circuit breaker switches sounds like it should be easy but it isn't. There is company called Shapeways that prints new covers. My bird has ETA switches like yours probably does. I may be just replacing the covers. Having a 40 year old switch give up the ghost on a trip would be a bummer. I am thinking new would be better. If finding new circuit breaker switches turns out to be a giant pain I will go with just the covers. I have also thought about changing to toggle style circuit breaker with stainless switch guards-kind of a retro look. The guy who has the hangar next to me just completed a Velocity and has them installed with the same avionics I am installing and they look great. Good luck with your new bird. Curt
  14. I am get starting the annual on my 1984 201. I want to treat it with CorrosionX. Does anyone have any instructions on treating the control surfaces and the horizontal and vertical tail? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
  15. Hi I will be working with an A&P/IA on an annual for my bird at the end of the month. Where is the best place to buy a digital copy of the maintenance manuals and parts manual? Is there a list of what hardware I should have on hand before the annual starts? I want to use corrosion block or boeshield during the work. Are there any writeups on the procedure? Thanks! 16. Yes I did my brother Jim was his engineering assistant on the Avtec 400. What a man! I visited him in his home near the Mooney plant.
  17. Thanks very much- Roy was an awesome human being- I miss him every day.
  18. Thanks for the picture of my Dad. He started putting me in T6s and T33s before I could walk. I never really had a chance! I worked with him on the development of the 201 starting in 1974 in the experimental shop. I had a customer surfboard business prior to moving to Kerrville and was good at shaping things and making molds. I built some of the original 201 mods-first slopped windshield and some of the fairings. I then worked in the flight test and structures department while I was getting my engineering degree. Mooneys are a part of our family. I was very happy to finally get my own. Curt PS I just saw your post today.
  19. I am thinking I will probably do it. Thanks
  20. Thanks I will start with him. Appreciate you help!
  21. Thanks- I will have to deside if it is worth the effort.
  22. Good point. I think the auto has been in the bird since it left Kerrvile. Any idea of the value for parts?
  23. So the mechanism penetrates the spar web and also goes into the fuel tank?
