  1. Thanks for your post. I would most likely be using a dry store boat barn marina. The hurricanes or potential hurricanes could take a lot of the fun out of it. I appreciate your comments thanks.
  2. Hi I am considering keeping a boat in the keys half of the year.I live in east central Florida. My wife and I love to fish. We are thinking we could keep the boat at a marina or in dry storage and fly down there when we want to fish. Marathon or Key West are the only two public airports in the keys so hopefully we can find a marina or storage place close the one of the airports. Has anyone on MooneySpace ever done this? If so, I would appreciate hearing how it worked out for you. Thanks
  3. I retired 5 years ago. I know Whelen outsourced the composite fabrication. I am not sure what the status of the cowling is. I would call 800-859-4757 and ask for Jayde. Regards Curt
  4. I appreciate your post thanks.
  5. Thanks I contact Wisconsin Aviation who now sells Bruce's stuff. They are sending me a sample. Curt

  9. Thanks I will contact them. I appreciate your suggestion. Curt
  10. I just had a new leather interior put in my 201. The interior color is light grey. The shop used black edging around the window. I would really like to replace the black edging with light grey. Any suggestions where I can purchase some? Thanks
  11. Thanks I will definitely check out the plugs, I appreciate your post. Curt
  12. At 5000 feet I shut both mags off and the radio sounded great. With the mags shut off no radio noise. So I think it definitely an ignition problem. I had the mag rebuilt and during the rebuild most components were replaced with new. The harness is at least 14 years old and was folded back on itself and tied with stay straps because two of the cables were too long. The shielding is coming loose at the nuts that attaches the cable to the spark plug. I think the harness needs to be replaced. I am running out of things to change. I have been to see two avionics specialists. So far with little improvement. Hopefully this will fix it. Thanks for your posts. Curt
  13. I have been fighting a radio noise issue for a while. We determined it was ignition by switching the left and then the right mag. The noise was still there but not as loud. We shut both off and voila no more noise. I think I need a new ignition harness. Does anyone know the part number for the harness? My bird is a 84 201 with A IO360 A3B6D. Thanks Curt
  14. Thank you for your post. Reloading the approach allows you to use the IAF as a transition. I guess reloading the transition only applies if you didn't use the IAF as the transition when you first loaded the approach. What are the other 5 GPS tasks pilots don't know how to do? My instructor may have told me how to but we were in very crowded airspace and in the middle of the holding the tower said cleared for the approach so we joined the course line. Thanks again. Curt
  15. Thanks Adam I appreciate your help. I will have to check it out in my plane tomorrow. Hopefully I have it now.
  16. Adam good to hear from you. Happy New Year! You know that is what I thought but yesterday I was doing an IPC and my instructor wanted me to hold at an IAF which was in the center of the T. I pushed the hold at a fix button and the hold it depicted was on the wrong side of the course line. Then the tower cleared me for the approach so I didn't really get the chance to sort it out. Holds happen so infrequently that it is easy to get rusty. How is the original Super 201 cowling holding up? Curt
  17. Ok thanks I appreciate it.
  18. I has a 201 with a GFC-500, a 750Xi and a G3X. I have two questions regarding holds and missed approaches. 1. If you have to hold at an IAF with a charted hold is the published holding description what shows up when you push Way Point Options Hold at a Waypoint? Or you you have to enter the information? 2. At the Missed approach point when you push the TOGA button and a magenta line provides guidance to the published hold do you have to press the NAV button or does the TOGA being pushed provide the required action? I understand that if the missed approach instructions are not the published ones or course the HDG button has to be pushed. Thanks Curt
  19. Dan Thanks for the suggestions we are staying at the Higgins. I am guessing parking might be a real challenge, with that in mind Ubering from Lake Front to the Higgins is probably the way to go. Happy New Year! Curt
  20. I also like artifacts but its real hard to beat a great story. If I end up not liking the museum it gives me a good a good excuse to put 8 hours on my bird. Happy New Year! Curt
  21. Alex thanks alot for the suggestions. We will definitely check them out. I appreciate your help. Happy New Year! Curt
  22. Thanks for your post Alex. We will be sure to check out Messina's. We would love to hear about any other dining suggestions you have. Thanks
  23. Thanks for your post. I appreciate it! Thanks for the heads up on the lake. With ForeFlight I file everywhere I go now. Have a great weekend.
  24. Merry Christmas! My wife and I want to fly to New Orleans to visit the WW 2 Museum. Has anyone flown into Lake Front airport there? Any suggestion on what FBO I should use? Is there a more convenient airport than Lake Front? Thanks!
  25. My 201 is getting a new interior. I didn't like the first take the shop did on my glareshield. I am looking for suggestions what to do to improve the looks. My glareshield was heat warped like most Mooneys of that vintage. The shop said they could warp it some synthetic leather but it might not do well in the heat. What have other Mooney done to correct the warp and improve the appearance? Thanks Curt
