  1. Curious if you are saying this is a ramp inspection or something else... https://pilot-protection-services.aopa.org/news/2019/june/01/be-prepared-ramp-checks-and-what-you-should-know https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2013/january/22/kathy-surviving-ramp-check https://www.pilotmall.com/blogs/news/faa-ramp-check-the-10-things-you-should-do https://www.pilotmall.com/blogs/news/faa-ramp-check-the-10-things-you-should-do -Don

  3. Congratulations! It's what you worked for! As they say 'be careful what you wish for, you might get it'. Props to your girlfriend too! -Don

  5. Hum... I recognize that pic! Good luck - David did a great job with the previous run... Don
  6. I pretty much have my forever plane. Once the AI G5, Trutrak, and Electric Step goes in, it's maintain it. Fix a few small fuel tank seeps, plan a top OH, then paint are about the main items I'd consider. She's running great right now so Top OH will only happen when a cylinder issue starts showing up. Since the bottom was IRAN about 600 hrs ago with the new prop, I'm hopeful she has a lot of hrs left... David sold me a great flyer... -Don
  7. when trying to post image from a url like below: http://accelerationtech.com/photos/mooney/2652w/updates/IMG_4793.jpg the box will not accept is (with no error message why). This used to work but now is not. Also, it looks as if the images I did post that way are no longer showing up in the site but, if I open in new tab, it works... -Don
  8. Yep, today I did focus more on down the middle or slightly right. Did much better today. Never hurts to remind us about technique ;o) -Don
  9. Yep, I hear ya and I know that is what I’m supposed to do but sometimes I just get ‘vapor lock’ ;o) -Don
  10. I’m glad too about the Garmin choice - yea, with 20 years off it’s all new again ;o). I’m wanting to get real comfortable with the Mooney then off I go! Almost 30 hrs on her since I got her. I’ll get the GoPro going soon. The challenges of the Mooney sure keep you on your game ;o) ‘Thanks for watching’ ;o) -Don
  11. What a great day to fly and boy was it busy! This was my first full day with the G5 and LHS. Both performed fantastic. The LHS really helps with landings - beyond pleased with that. Lots of traffic and practice with king airs and the like - just a fun 2 hrs of pattern work. My landings are improving and I'll be focusing more on centerline landing (just a little bit left so I want right on centerline next time out). Wind was shifting a bit so that was part of what I also need to anticipate. Got my gopro cable and lense so I'll see about getting it going next time out. Flying is really fun again... -Don
  12. Harley did... ;o) -Don
  13. Sabremech did these on the bird I bought from him... 337 -Don
  14. Got mine today.. Very efficient process at TMS! So far, just a bit tired after having the first round. Hope to be better tomorrow as the weather here is nice! -Don
  15. Getting my first shot tomorrow at TMS (Texas Motor Speedway!)... -Don
  16. Previous owners did virtually all speed mods on mine. Don’t have a favorite but the cowling and 201 windshield stand out to me: UL is 973 lbs as of right now... -Don
  17. Electric step is ordered (help a fellow Mooney brother out ;o). ! I’ll get that done later and then prep for G5 AI - then vac system can go! I’m not holding out for BK to get the TruTrak out this year so these upgrade will help in the mean time... -Don
  18. Yes, out of the exhaust stream... Edge Aviation in Commerce did the install. Great shop... -Don
  19. Installed! Love it... Performed perfectly... I'm setup 'certified'... Worth every penny... -Don
  20. Success! G5 worked flawlessly, LHS is fantastic. The call out for ck gear had me subconsciously reaching for the Johnson Bar to confirm. Love it. The G5 does a countdown for shutoff. Avionics shop said to let it count down and don't shut it off manually... Here are pics!
  21. @ basically $3k avg for just the kit, you’d have to sell 34 sets just to pay for the STC, can’t see that happening. Hoping Jose recovers - strokes are no joke... -Don
  22. Spar Splice is in front of the rear seat, middle of the floor. Just where folks spill drinks in the back ;o)
  23. Well, mag was 3 weeks out so gonna wait for that. Everything else is done! Picking her up tomorrow - can't wait! Gonna test her out. I have a gopro and will see if I can get audio later. Fun! -Don
