Flap gap seals go on the underside of the flap. Not between the aileron and flap
-
I do know that the guy made copies of these before and sold them. I could see if he has the CAD
-
We did. He didn’t have Jacks available, so I did a low and over when I flew up there. Then he flew under my plane when we test flew after. Said they looked good
-
He has a set. Handy to have for sure.

Had a J owner friend volunteer to help with the rigging of my 74F. Prior to checking it out, I was getting no more that 130 KTS IAS on the speedometer. I flew up to his heated hangar today (we are in Canada. Heat is important in February) and using his travel boards, did the following: - set both ailerons to 0 degrees (one was +2, other was -.5) - set flaps to -1 degrees (from 2 degrees on one to 0 on the other) - rotated the exhaust towards the rear (it was almost pointing straight down) - rotated the Lasar tie down rings 90 degrees (I had them pointed to the back) - adjusted the trailing edge on the rudder (I was requiring to use left rudder to keep the ball cantered. The trailing edge was bent to the pilot side substantially) - adjusted the cabin door so the leading edge sealed better to the fuselage (there’s was a 1/8” step between the door and the fuselage . Total time, including the BS sessions and checking out his panel improvements was around 2.5 hours We took our planes for a rest flight after. The result was a 138 KTS Indicated airspeed! TAS resulted in 147 KTS, which is right in line with the POH expectations. My aircraft hasn’t been washed or waxed in months, so I’m looking forward to giving her a bath once the weather warms up to see if I can’t break the 150 TAS mark. It’s worth taking at look at your rigging for an easy speed pick up.

looking for one-piece windshield upgrade experiences

I put the .250” in the front and pilot/ passenger windows, then the .187” in the rear ones in my F. Few things of note: 1- you’ll need longer screws than the current ones for the thicker windows. 2- the forming to the hull aluminum takes a little massaging as it is a different outside radius. 3- give yourself lots of time to clean, seal and have your book of swear words ready to use them all. -
I used an old carbon archery arrow and a white paint pen. It’s small, light and sits in the groove on my hat rack taking up no space.

Maybe he was in a steep right turn when he took the photo???

Small ceramic heater. I place one in the foot well, and let it heat the cabin as well as the instruments.
-
This does the trick, and I’m in Canada. -20 C and it’ll heat the engine and cylinders to room temperature. I have it on a wifi timer and set it for 2-3 hours before I fly.

Looks like it's made from metal. Mine was fiberglass that I installed this year

380 mile commute. What is the best Mooney for $125,000 purchase price?
GDGR replied to Willie's topic in General Mooney Talk
I think you’re missing a zero there. sorry to ruin your night..... or what you told your wife it costs per hour. -
okay. He’s not a real Dr. He’s a dentist.
-
I'm with you on this one, 100%. I"m not looking to upgrade my F currently, but this plane was on my radar, if the timing was right. But, timing will never be an issue unless the price is substantially lower.

There's enough local Mooney pilots who are happy to take PIC in the right seat, and allow him to fly HIS plane. We're a good group this way. Guess he's just decided it's time to call it quits.

I’ve literally been in the plane once. Dr lost his medical a while back and needs someone to fly “with him”. I went with one time to ferry the plane back to his hangar. This is the only Photo I have of the panel.... sorry it’s upside down.

For the sake of discussion..... He’s asking for $120 US for it (I’m in Canada). i get the Turbo Normalized engine is worth something, but IMO, I don’t think he will get anywhere near that amount. Maybe I am a die hard Mooney CB, but personally I don’t see the value.

Around 2300 TT Paint and Interior are still 8/10, like I mentioned in the post.

Just had an interesting conversation with my AME, who also doubles as a part time aircraft broker. He mentioned to me that a Dr, who list his medical is selling his late 70s J: - 350 hours Since overhaul - Prop zero timed 2 years ago - Auto Pilot - IFR certified (albeit it has so so avionics. GARMIN 396 on the yoke) - Turbo Normalized - paint and interior 8/10 Then he told me what he was asking for it....... I won’t give out the number just yet, but I went into his office to see if the crack pipe was still smoking. Just wondering if I’m the only one who thinks it’s an atrocious amount? What would you pay?

You guys don’t know how good you have it south of the border. Canada has a mandatory 10 year prop overhaul. Bought my plane at the end of year 9 on the prop. It had 79 hours on it. I put another 65 on it before it came off. $3800 later it has another 10 years
