Hi Everyone. Hope you are having a nice start to your summer flying activities. I am happy to announce that the West Coast Mooney Group has been invited to participate in the Wings Over Camarillo Airshow this year at KCMA. We have an incredible per plane discount available to us and we will also have preferred parking as a group to display our planes for the public to enjoy. There will be static display of aircraft and vintage cars, Great food, music and some of the country's best airshow performers on hand for a great weekend of flying activities. Our participation as a group is limited to one day only on Saturday August 17th 2019. Airshow Information:. Location: KCMA Date: Saturday August 17, 2019 Arrival Time: 8:00 - 10:00 AM - (Runway will be shut down so please be on time) Preferred Parking On Ramp Together for the WCMG When you arrive, please tell ground control that you are with the Mooney Club Fly-in. They will coordinate with the airshow ground guys to park you. When you get to your parking area, please call this number (805-886-7639) and a representative will come to the planes, process your tickets and give you your wrist bands for the event. I have setup a special discount code for the West Coast Mooney Group for reducing the cost of a Adult General Admission ticket for Saturday ONLY to $20. You only need to purchase ONE Adult GA $20.00 ticket for each plane so in other words with four people on board you will save $80.00 admission per plane. Please make sure that you bring a printed copy of your one Adult GA ticket per plane. Tickets must be purchased by Friday August 16, at 4:30 PM so the airshow staff will know how many parking places to reserve for us and I know how many wrist bands I need to get. If you have any questions, please contact me. For Ticket Purchase Go To: www.wingsovercamarillo.com Click on the Tickets Icon Select ONE Saturday GA Admission Ticket Use Promo Code: MOONEY2019 (All Caps) for the plane discount I look forward to having as many of us there as possible to enjoy the day together and celebrate our beautiful Mooney Aircraft and general aviation. Please respond with a YES - MAYBE - NO and how many guests will be in your plane so I can get a sense of how many will be joining us. Contact me at anytime if you have any questions and please email me to let me know if you are going to join us. All The Best, Michael Rodgers N9268M 310-280-8983

Does anyone have an update on the pilot or the suspected cause of the crash?
-
Hysterical. My girlfriend doesn't even make it into the airplane. The moment I start talking about my airplane or flying her eyes glaze over and she is out like a light.

Mooney Landing in Van Nuys at twilight.

Yes, I have seen the movie many times. A great film with exceptional aerial footage. -

I hope he didn’t bark at you for landing the wrong runway as the recording would have been embarrassing for him had he done so. The controllers throughout the crowded airspace in the LA basin are top notch especially at Van Nuys. Human error does creep in from time to time. He did not mention my landing 16R to me and although I looked for the “other” Mooney on the approach to the parallel runway I never attributed his call to me. There was another Mooney on frequency earlier with a similar N#. It’s great to make these videos as a learning tool. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I used a GoPro (sticky mount) and placed it on the ceiling. It works great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Thanks for your comments. Actually, the camera is about half way down the cabin between the rear seats. Wide angle setting on the GoPro. -

I recently finished my transition training with Donald E Kaye and Mike Jesch. Two fantastic gentlemen and great instructors. I finally had a chance to shoot a quick video in my Mooney. This is one of my first solo trips since finishing my transition training into my 67 M20F. I love being able to safely fly my plane now. It is so rewarding to gain proficiency and confidence with these beautiful machines. This was a twilight approach into Van Nuys over the San Fernando Valley in the Los Angeles basin. You might notice that ATC uses the wrong call sign when apparently asking me to switch runways but all worked out great and they didn't admit their mistake and I didn't know of their request until I watched the video. There was also another Mooney on approach 10 miles out with a very similar call sign. The runway was clear and I learned something from the experience. Enjoy riding along with me in my 67 M20F. Angle of Attack Indicators - Pireps Please
MrRodgers replied to MrRodgers's topic in General Mooney Talk
Put it where it isn’t out of the way while using it. Up on the glare shield, up by the compass, up by where your eyes are going to be... unless you have really good instrument scanning skills and multi-tasking skills of a typical IR pilot... Best regards, -a- Thanks so much for such a detailed response. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Hi everyone. I am considering installing an AOA indicator in my plane. I have seen some videos of glare shield mounted versions the pilot can flip/raise up or down when needed. I have also see panel mounted versions. I am looking for our groups thoughts and experience with AOA's and any pireps would be appreciated. What brands do you all prefer and why? Glare shield Mount or Panel Mount? Have you been saved from a potential stall/spin occurrence? Is it a distraction in the cockpit? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Had my Mooney waxed last week. I guess that is called MOONSCAPING.

Hi everyone. I was speaking with a fellow pilot recently and he said that he saw that Mooney was in the planning stages of putting a three place version (Center Seat in Back) with a Ballistic parachute in it's design. What I was told is that they plan to remove a fourth seat to accommodate the weight for the BRS. Has anyone else heard about this? If so, I'd love to know what everyone thinks about that possibility. Would you like a chute on your Mooney? Added safety is always a plus but the way some folks characterize the Cirrus crowd I am not sure how this would go over in our MS group. Your thoughts?
