  1. What exactly did you end up using? Bulbs...etc? Part Number?
  2. Hello Mooney Allegro,

Just a quick note to you to welcome you to the West Coast Mooney Club.

Your profile does not say where you are located but hopefully you can make it out to some of our events in the near future.  Looking forward to meeting you.

Hello Mr. Rodgers!  Thanks and I'm sorry, I live in Henderson, NV.  I enjoy flying and would love to meet you and the rest of the West Coast Mooney Club.   My last trip to California was to Monterey about a month ago.  I visited the beautiful aquarium and spent two days in Monterey.

I'll keep checking the website for your next meet.  Hopefully I can make it.  My schedule sometimes has me working weekends and holidays, but hopefully it will workout that I can meet you.

If you come to Las Vegas, let me know!

      David Lincoln

      Hi David,

I was just up in Monterey last weekend and at the Aquarium as well.  A beautiful spot to be sure. Had to drive from LA though as my plane was in for service.  Hope to meet up with you someday soon.

      Best,

      Michael Rodgers

  3. Oh no Don. I am so sorry to hear this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. When buying the plane in December I knew she needed attention. Don Maxwell did a great job with the needed/requested upgrades including new flaps, new brakes, new pucks, new oil lines, new tires, new wheels, new visors, new yokes (leather wrapped). I’ve also recently had new flap seals, vernier prop controller, new voltage regulator and alternator installed as well. Since that photo above was taken I’ve also upgraded the panel with a Garmin set up. GTX 345 Transponder ADSB OUT/ IN GMA 350 C Audio Panel with Bluetooth and Connectivity Voice Commands. GTN 650 Nav/Com GPS GI 106 B Heading Indicator. EDM 700 Engine Monitor- Upgraded and New Display I’m done with the upgrades for a while. She’s ready to fly on with confidence. Now if only I could get my hours in her to match the dollars I spent getting her in shape. Love my plane! [ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Great decision in wanting to do the upgrade. Upon purchase I had mine done with the assistance of Don Maxwell and I am really happy with the results. Here they are looking so good I ended up redoing my panel as well a few months later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I am going to chime in here since it was me who started this thread/topic in the first place. The original post was about my experience and appreciation of Don's service to me in the purchase of my first airplane. I went to his shop from Los Angeles because of his reputation and his knowledge about Mooney's. I was not disappointed in any way. The fact that somehow this thread has devolved into some of the recent comments I have seen is disheartening. Yes, we share information on MS and it's a valuable resource for all of us. The information that each of us share however is subjective to our own experiences and judgements and will not always line up with what others might think. That's okay. For me I cannot speak highly enough about the services and ongoing commitment that Don and his staff have shown to me. He is an invaluable resource for anyone at anytime and from personal experience continues to remain a resource for me long after my PPI and the first Annual done at his shop.
  7. I concur. Go arounds, especially with passengers on board can be stressful as you are not only managing the airplane but also have the judgement and comfort of the passengers to consider. Such a sad event.
  8. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
  9. Hi everyone. I had a discharge yesterday in my electrical system. After trouble shooting we found that the field wire connection point in my alternator is loose and broken. That being the case I am looking for a cost effective replacement. My part number is 015-01237. Motorola is the manufacturer. Any suggestions as to a suitable (newer) replacement as opposed to an older style alternator would be appreciated. So far all I can find are refurbished as opposed to new. Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts and experience with me. Best, Michael
  10. What a wonderful gesture to create this memory for Ron. Thanks so much for sharing. Looks like you got a great plane to enjoy and care for, for many years to come. Mihael
  11. Not sure. I was training with Vista.
  12. More like the bravado of youth taking a back seat to a more conservative and safer approach. I also trained at Whiteman in the early 2000's and my instructor let me solo but never discussed airspace in detail. I am surprised I survived the 20 plus hours I just tooled around the LA Basin and up to Agua Dulce and back.
  13. Learning to fly in the LA Basin and Southern California in general as well as regularly flying into Van Nuys at "16 Right" (Rumored to be The busiest GA Airport in the World) is an invaluable education and experience. After learning to fly here with a variety of airspace in such proximity to one another and sometimes overlapping it makes you really elevate your training. I flew out of Van Nuys on my Checkride with multiple landings and go arounds including ATC instructions to complete two 360 degree turns prior to turning to base for spacing issues and jet traffic. It was stressful but also very rewarding to perform well in this airspace under pressure. If you are working the Van Nuys pattern and are too high in your altitude on downwind by 200-300 feet you are now in 747 Heavy world as they set up for arrival into Burbank. Many times I have had passenger jets cross above and in front of me while turning crosswind to downwind. We all learn to share the airspace with each other while ALWAYS keeping your head on a swivel. Stressful, yes but extremely rewarding as well. I hope you get to come out here again sometime.
  14. Your post is very inspiring to me. I am in the process of completing my transition training with @donkaye as well. He is a great guy and a fantastic instructor. My hope is that after I am completed with him this Friday I will be able to have more confidence in my abilities in flying my 67 F. For you to have completed your flight home immediately after transition training is a wonderful thing. Congratulations.
  15. Seems like they would want to fly the others as well instead of trailering them. Only a few of them actually flying though and for the money you can get a much more substantial plane. Also, way too many fatal accidents in such a short time give me concern for anyone who fly's this. Just my opinion.
  16. Night Sky: Back in 2006 I moved to a little island in the Bay of Honduras (Roatan). I had a house on the North shore at Palmetto Bay. The power to the island was run on generators and electricity was intermittent at best. At night the world was so dark the sky looked like a blanket of stars. It was as though you could reach out and touch them. I miss that. Way too much light pollution and we miss out on the beauty of the universe.
  17. I flew from Los Angeles to Longview and had Don do my pre-buy and first annual before taking delivery of my 67 M20F in Santa Monica. I think it was a great decision. Lot's of good shops in TX for Mooney's.
  18. Rob Yes, you are right. My plane was at the shop when I posted originally. My mistake. Yes, I have a heading bug on my DG. I still would like to locate a manual for my files. Thanks so much,
  19. Here is what I have in my plane. Id love to learn all I can about this.
  20. I took a look at the file and it is for a different system than I have. I'll keep looking or post a picture of mine soon to see if anyone has the same system. Thanks everyone.
  21. Hi everyone. Does anyone have an owners / users manual for a Brittain Accu-Trac system? I have searched online and cannot seem to locate anything for them as they have also shut down their company. My plane is a 67 M 20 F with a single axis and PC system. I'd like to review and learn more about using the system to its fullest potential. Thanks, Michael
  22. Thanks so much. Great advice.
  23. Thanks for your kind words and advice. I plan on getting my IR within the next 24 months. I am building time and confidence in my abilities now and I am training with Don Kaye in my transition. Many issues with my plane have been revealed to me on recent flights so my flight time has been limited while resolving the needed upgrade items. New ADSB Transponder, audio panel, G650, flap seals, new fuel sensors and a few other items have all been completed. Now I can fly her with confidence that she is sound and focus on learning my plane I look forward to meeting you as well and the caravan is on my bucket list.
