Man, I’ll be honest, my preflight likely would not have caught that. do you crawl under the wing for every preflight?

Or you can just dial your governor up to 2700 and increase the fuel flow. Voila!! ps. Zero amu’s

While there is always something to learn from these analysis, the critical element I am always left asking is why? why would one take off in heavy snow, whiteout conditions at night? I can’t in my wildest imagination see a scenario that I would make that decision. This makes me wonder the why, and what detail is missing from the story? I am certainly guilty of some bad decisions over the last 10 years I have been flying. I have found myself in situations that I did not predict, and fortunately everything turned out ok, but how close was I in those scenarios to being a statistic? That being said, none of them were so glaringly “wrong” at take off, and while none were planned for, all but one, were merely more than I asked for, not near death. One example was I flew from Alaska to Louisiana without stopping, but for fuel, in a TBM. I was not the PIC on the last few legs, and when we landed I had not accommodated for the time change and took off for home (FL) in my Mooney. I did not want to land at night, because I just don’t fly at night much, and not only did I find myself landing at night, but with less fuel than would have made me comfortable and malfunctioning landing lights at the airport. weather was nice, and it was a non event, but what could have gone wrong? As informative as these stories are, and as instructional as they can be, I am always left wanting more information, because the story usually sounds too bizarre for reality…

Like this? it is actually my company logo and while I am from Louisiana, I was never a big fan of the saints. Fans had bags on their heads when I was growing up -
Help settle marital paint scheme dispute!
Schllc replied to emillerslo's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
I’m late with the comment so the decision is likely made, but I absolutely vote for the darker scheme. I understand the thought of the black making the plane hotter, but don’t believe if it’s hangars it makes much of a difference, even while on the ground. Maybe if you spend an hour or two on the ramp it may make a few degrees difference, but not enough to make me choose something I don’t want. I finalized my paint scheme… -
Hahaha! may need military experience to know that one.

Need help with selecting and ordering new insulation
Schllc replied to Schllc's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
I’m pretty sure I can use anything burn rated, and that fits, I just didn’t think to look at the spacing when the panel was out, so I don’t know what thickness I can use or how much to order. I also don’t think I want to replace with the original material. It literally turned to powder in between the foil sheets. It’s completely gone. -
I am in the process of redoing the interior and windows of my plane prior to painting. When I pulled the side panel off the existing insulation has turned to powder, and it needs to be replaced. I didn’t think at the time to look at what thickness would work. Some looked like it’s cut between the frame tubes, and some looks like it goes over the tubes. I plan on doing this myself, so I will do a much better job than the factory, in the gaps and awkward spaces. There are a few options on spruce and it’s sold in 4 square foot increments, however I have no idea how much to order, or which thickness will actually fit everywhere. I would also like to put something on the floor under the carpet if that’s practical/possible. I prefer the non precut versions, but I want the material that will provide the most sound attenuation as possible, I am much less concerned with weight. I am replacing the windows with .25” for sound, so I may as well go the whole 9 yards. Has anyone done this, or do they know what will work? need some help!

The reality is that this needs to be chalked up to experience. The only winners in any litigation will be the attorneys, you will spend more in fees than you will ever recover. You will also not be able to bring in another mechanic in, or move the plane for any less than you are currently stuck with. While it’s easy for us who have been owners for years to say this is the way it is, for a new, first time owner this is a bitter pill. Try to focus on the upside, which is that your plane will be tight and right after this, and like everyone else says, fly the heck out of it after and enjoy the confidence of a well maintained airplane. In a few years this won’t even be a blip on your radar.

Tix, is a great airport with a cool museum, but titsuville has very little in the way of restaurants and hotels. Not sure about rental cars. Rental cars in Florida are a roll of the dice on pricing. Best deals I have found were enterprise just off airport. if it’s close enough some of them will bring the car to you, almost all of them will drive you back to the airport.

I have flown approaches to minimums intentionally at my home drome many times, a few times at very familiar airports, and occasionally at some airports with no mountains. I will not plant to intentionally fly into a higher elevation airport with obstructions down to minimums. I don’t personally feel comfortable planning this way. I have had to do it a few times and really don’t like when i am in that situation. I feel like I failed at my planning. I recently did a lot of flying in the south and southwestwest, in congested areas, and they all use departure and arrival procedures for the mountains. Even when I would file no Sid’s or stars they would demand I use them, even in vfr. I told Vegas I didn’t have the departure procedure they assigned, and they read it to me to copy, which was a royal pia. And it want for mountains, it was restricted airspace. if I flew more frequently, I would be more comfortable with planning lower approaches but being that I don’t have anywhere I have to be, and flying about 200 hours a year, I am a bit more conservative.

Cheyenne PPP, Inogen Rove 6, and 1st Class on the 787-9
Schllc replied to donkaye, MCFI's topic in General Mooney Talk
The airlines are awful and I avoid them at all costs. Last big trip my family we took was to Wyoming as well. On the trip we had 7 legs (total for trip and retuen). My wife booked them first class for our family which was $16k. I never really looked at the tickets until we got to the airport. Out of seven legs, only one was first class, which was the shortest of the seven flights. I called American and they said we booked first class rates so they would make zero adjustments. And we would be upgraded anywhere if the opportunity presented. it did not. They have turned into cattle cars, and designed to siphon money at every single opportunity, and to make you as uncomfortable as possible. With the benefit of making sure at least one in your party picks up a bug from someone in the process. . I won’t even go into the weirdness of the people in the airport today… -
About four years ago the hangar wait list at my home field had about 60 people. the airport changed the deposit required to get on the list and the list went to below 30. I think there are a lot of tire kickers. Not enough to have vacancy, but enough to look like demand changed. with airlines getting worse every day, I can’t see biz jet dropping off. everyone I know in that biz is still overwhelmed.

Or “Cheapest” which is probably better in wind… https://www.amazon.com/ScotchBlue-PROSharp-Edge-Lock-2093-48EC/dp/B0DWF2V6DZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_5_sspa?crid=2LI609SB8WSG4&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.yHfaQtyGmgNb-Od6b1-i8NFTVabh4w7UeBy-nerlByzB_noMFrgpZfOHPdZ59RpfpNtky-CIGVP7MF_P7qZMc2eXTD39bEeaRisLZTo0wQKZARJh2uYqBSkUgNpUJngcgUwGRIbDJQPqtpZsXXDlY3Lu4OQ3yqdwfdHOkhcNUG5E75P_WsGMBzYBQA5vrrR90Ze1kDrzovwpqKSHG6qkgQ.N-J7fmzRt6vODL0LBiWm-8GqdlI9vfePxLyDNSk6IAQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=blue+painters+tape&qid=1748786232&sprefix=blue+painters+tape%2Caps%2C127&sr=8-5-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfbXRm&psc=1

It absolutely adds value, just not money. it will be easier to sell which will translate into savings.
-
Bladders or resealing will not really add any value, because it is merely maintenance on your airplane. However, it will make it easier to sell when people are comparing to other planes. I would absolutely vote for a resealing, I just did mine and Edison at kfxe said it would be four weeks from the date I dropped off, and that’s exactly what it was.
-
Then all that would be removed if you have the Shaw caps. I’m not familiar with all the different types on mooney”s over the years. the entire old collar, neck and cap are an assembly.
-
Are you talking about the locking tab when you close the cap?
-
They are legal, and are the same caps used on everything from sometime in 2008 until the end of production. I didn’t notice any speed penalty after my install. Brian made a doubler the exact size of the collar of the old style and riveted the new one together and I don’t even think he had much to reseal. You won’t be able to tell after paint. I had them on a few other planes and really miss them. the replacement caps are cheap, don’t damage the paint when you lay it on the wing, they don’t leak water.
-
Thank you! is an indicator light really necessary for this when they are four feet from your eyeballs?
-
I just bought a three blade MT prop for my plane and it was 28k shipped to me. it was in stock and I had it within two weeks.
-
I would do a field overhaul before I waited two years for an engine. I got several quotes for a bravo engines about a year ago. Prices were from high 50’s to 80’s. Exhaust was in the 80k

Your full panel running will draw more than 1amp. also, it sure if the j has two batteries but on the gx models the gpu only works when on battery 1
