  1. This thread goes back years but, if they are still doing it, Globe would be a good choice -- they likely manufactured the motor.
  2. The club would save you some money until you get a better idea what your total cost of ownership will be. The TCO will likely be more than you think. Better to sneak up on it, rather than the "sink or swim" approach.
  3. Great article. Thank you!
  4. Are you using Flitelite, and are you replacing with a different model Flitelite?
  5. That is some impressive damage -- worst I have seen. Good Luck.
  6. I think the aft plunger drains static system; forward plunger drains pitot system.
  7. Joey Cole. Someone else will tell you how to get in touch.
  8. I'm too lazy to verify, but according to gegcalculators.com (never heard of them), the formula is: PI * Diameter (ft) * RPM Tip Speed (ft/s) = ----------------------------- 60 The speed of sound is around 1100 ft/sec.
  9. Did you use the yellow Oyltite-Stik Sealant?
  10. Just got off the phone with George and, you are correct regarding the revenue from licensing, but he says that revenue will amount to a few pennies per gallon over a very long time, while the revenue from the STC recoups some of their 10- or 12-year investment up front. Not sure what you mean by "necessary". Everyone who provides a product or service wants to get paid.
  11. Crank up your browser. The STC covers “every spark ignition piston engine and every airframe using a spark ignition piston engine in the FAA’s Type Certificate database.” https://generalaviationnews.com/2022/09/03/gami-unleaded-fuel-approved-for-all-general-aviation-aircraft/
  12. GAMI is not in the fuel business. They are neither a refinery nor a distributor. Hence the STC -- it is the only way they can recoup their investment.
  13. It's my understanding that some of the Bonanza people use pre-heat all the time to drive out moisture.
  14. Some late-model Toyotas are now using 0W8 oil -- pretty tight tolerances. I doubt if Toyota is the only one. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that my car uses 0W20, but 0W8 is insane.
  15. Love the spring compressor -- couldn't be simpler.
  16. As Sen. Fulbright once opined "A billion here, a billion there -- pretty soon you're talking about real money".
  17. FAA doesn't care about your engine unless it blows up and causes a forced landing.
  18. I wonder if it would be legal to redo a panel with a hinge at the bottom. I have seen some amateur-built airplanes with this arrangement. I guess every wire and hose has a service loop. To work on the panel they remove a couple of screws at the top, and fold the panel down into their lap. No more upside-down (on the floor) gymnastics.
  19. One more picture? Please.
  20. Excellent! Thanks.
  21. Is this something you are making? Are you sharing the 3D printer files?
  22. If you decide to try it, get someone who has done it a few times and is willing to follow instructions.
  23. That's cool. How does it attach to yoke? Does it use fans?
