  1. If you find yourself needing maintenance and a non-msc is your only choice - reach out to an msc. I would like to think that most (if not all) are willing to give the mechanics guidance when working on your Mooney. If you know no one, feel free to get in touch with us. Lynn often happily informs, guides, and answers questions of non-Mooney mechanics. (Not responding directly to you, Bob. Just using your words as reference [emoji846]) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  2. Lynn and Nathan will work on them and they maintain a few. The 2 of them are just as thorough on a Beech as they are anything else. Don’t get us wrong, it truly is a well built machine. Maintenance is a bear, though - no matter what is being being done. Overly complicated to access and work on. That’s just our opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  3. Do I have to? [emoji31]. [emoji38] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  4. You can bring her to us if you’d like. If you prefer somewhere else, provide them with a copy of LASAR’s pre purchase inspection checklist. You can find it online. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  5. Just out of curiosity, what is it you’re needing done avionics wise? If it’s something simple like an upgrade or an installation - Lynn may be able to help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  6. SparkChasers and Twin Lakes Avionics are the two avionics shops that we recommend regularly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  7. 5/8”... do watch the video. Expect a little blood... Our royal highnesses are sometimes hateful but love them anyway [emoji846] Perhaps I should get Lynn and Nathan to do another video talking about metal contaminants [emoji38] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  9. We do. We send them out to H&H Propeller.
  10. We do... typically we look at the “hot spots” first and try to keep downtime waiting on parts to a minimum Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  11. If you’ve already replaced the plug and the replacement is giving you problems out the gate, make sure the plugs aren’t bad right out of the box. Our shop has seen this quite a bit - more so with Champion plugs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  12. Oh goodness! Glad you got to the ground ok! I hate you didn’t make it to us! You landed in Davidson County? If you need some help you let us know! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  13. You’re more than welcome to try us if you like. AGL Aviation. Give us a call tomorrow or message us on here, let’s see what we can do for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  14. Well then I'd say you're very fortunate. There's no way? Please note the 'in our experience' that preluded the 500hr statement. About half the ones we've changed had burned out flame tubes with large sections missing and the other half was due to cracks. Also, the ones replaced were around 500hrs of use (not life of the plane). Once deterioration starts, it doesn't stop when the engine isn't in use. For what it's worth -in our experience- service life of small Piper muffler cans are less. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  15. Lynn has done a couple so far with 2 scheduled for the winter [emoji846] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  16. We're based out of KMRN (Morganton, NC). We offer a wide arrange of services, you can visit our website www.aglaviation.com to see a more comprehensive list. Or, you can ask us if you have something specific in mind - Lynn is very honest as to whether he's capable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  17. Another thing, in the giant scheme of things consider this: In our experience, the stock muffler lasts about 500hrs. Parts and labor costs about $1000 to change it. So, in 2000hrs you've spent around $4000 in exhaust maintenance. The PF system costs relatively the same (it'll be a wash financially) BUT... for 2000hrs you get somewhere along the lines of 18more horsepower (more with the airfilter addition). Not trying to sell you though [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  18. Our only benchmark we have for that is a flight school 172 we maintain. The exhaust system has went past the TBO of the engine (2000hrs). It flies roughly 1000hrs a year. We have several new installs (mooneys included), but they're not that old nor fly that much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  19. Dawley is great for overhaul. I would highly recommend them. If you would like new, call a shop and have them order from Aerospace Welding. If you'll send me a message, I'll be glad to give you pricing (our cost) for a regular, ribbed muffler (we just ordered 1 today). It's not much more than an overhauled unit. We're also a PowerFlow dealer, it is costly but it's a complete system. The flight school planes we've installed them on are lasting til TBO. However, the Mooney exhaust system seems to be inherently problematic - we do at least 1 Mooney annual a week and we're replacing approx +25% of the mufflers. They seem to have a service life (in Lynn's opinion) of about 500hrs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  20. We work in general aviation, we don't give senior discounts [emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  21. It's that time of year again!!! The future schedule will start to slow down a little bit. So far we have very little written on our board for October [emoji24] Last year's slow time (which was our fault) brought us very close to shutting our doors. We certainly do not want to be in that same position again. If you schedule some work with us from October 1st to December 31st, we will give a 10% discount on ALL LABOR. Help us keep our doors open this winter! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  22. That's neat! AGL has an alternate as well [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  23. The FBO was Speedbird then. Lynn was the mechanic then too [emoji846] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  24. If the system is working correctly, you should get immediate response pumping the handle. Lynn said it sounds like there is air trapped in the system somewhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  25. We'd be happy to provide service! Give us a call, email, text, or contact us through our website (if you haven't done so already). We'd also be happy to answer any questions you may have and/or address any concerns.
