  1. Mixed emotions on that; I believe they know Mooneys which is CRUCIAL for a pre-buy, and I really didn’t have any surprises after purchase EXCEPT for the missed prop! Top Gun (where I had my annual done) and LASAR are great choices, but will your seller go for that?
  2. OMG! I completed missed the price! You need to be selling whatever that guy is on Run, Forest, run!!
  3. If you can buy as a runout, then your risk is reduced (still a hassle to deal with getting an overhaul, installing...), but I honestly walked away from many planes simply because of very little use over many years. My guess is that at 1350 hours there’s no way the seller is going to price as a run-out. I think it’s pretty tough for a pre-buy to predict how long a given engine is going to last. If you do proceed, I’d at least have the cylinders borescoped. Not trying to discourage you, but the engine is always a bit of a crapshoot. Frankly, that uncertainty stopped me from buying for a long time; I finally accepted the risk.
  4. IMHO, it’s a lot more important how many RECENT hours are on the plane. If it’s only had a 20 hours/year for the last few years, I would be concerned. I bought a high time engine, but it had seen 100 hours or more, per year for a decade. I bought it as a run-out, and I’ve been flying it for a year with no issues (100 hours).
  5. I used Foothill Aviation at Cable (KCCB) for the pre-buy on my ‘70F (they are a Mooney Service Center). They missed the leaking prop But, I just finished my first annual at Top Gun and they found “only” $2K of squawks, most of which were really NOT pre-buy items.
  6. Could be...I’m 58. Maybe the 83 guy is the issue...or multiple pilots...I’m the only pilot on my policy. I also listed two IPCs on the renewal info form...no idea if that helped.
  7. I renewed last November and my rate went down a small amount. Global through Falcon.
  8. OUCH! Glad my STEC-30 is NOT porposing...yet, anyway. 7 hours, YIKES!
  9. If I didn’t “buy much F” with a GNS430W, STEC-30 w/alt hold, GPSS, slaved StrikeFinder, G3 Insight monitor, 201 windshield, PowerFlow exhaust, Ney nozzles, SkyTec starter, aileron, flap, elevator gap seals, cowl closure, dorsal fin mod, one piece belly, and speed brakes then please explain what I’m suppose to spend the $100K on, please?
  10. Been happy with mine. Nice tool to have, but I wouldn’t spend the money to install. Glad the PO did, though
  11. Very happy with my STEC-30, alt hold, and GPSS. However, the plane already had it installed.
  12. Thanks!
  13. Yuup! That’s why I bought an F
  14. WOW! What a story. The real question, at this point, is if your WIFE is okay with this prop going back on the plane?
  15. TEDLAR (DuPont) Poly vinyl floride based material No personal experience but used to protect highway signs (CALTRANS requirement), UV resistant. Not sure about abrasion resistance. Good luck.
  16. Please add me and PM link. Thanks!
  17. Yuup! Just finished my first annual on my F; just a hair over $4500.
  18. I thought the TCDS controlled what was required?
  19. Interesting. My ‘70F has the 201 windshield and the brake fluid reservoir is on the engine side of the fire wall; easily accessible with the top cowling removed. I just assumed that was the stock location until this thread.
  20. That’s what I have; don’t have to take ‘em off, thus they are always there when you do need to tie down. Very happy my plane had them installed.
  21. Glad to hear you're back up 'n running:) My first annual is coming up the end of this month....palms are getting sweaty!
  22. Technically, spelled Bowden...just sayin'
  23. LOL! Yeah, been bugging me since I was at the hangar this afternoon trying to get it to work...brought the Zulu home and finally got annoyed enough to post! Should have done that FIRST!
  24. MS comes through again! That was it!! Feel like a DIP (tee hee hee)...I did RTFM, but only the section on Bluetooth. Never got around to the section on the DIP switch settings. Thanks again, Marauder!
