  1. Yea I also added rh at the private level so all my training will now be pic. Did 3.5 hours of instrument dual yesterday and my instructor said I could pass the rotor-instrument today.
  2. Right after preflight before getting in the plane my pocket started to feel warm, then hot, then unbearable. I was standing so I was able to grab my pocket from the outside and just push everything out to fly out. I had a battery in my pocket to replace my headset back up battery. Apparently it melted down. Not sure how I'd be able to get it out if I were sitting down. The battery was so hot on the ground I couldn't even touch it.
  3. Rotorcraft helicopter. Now need to find a gyrocopter school
  4. On that doesn’t count but I have those too. I mean just pilot certificate.
  5. Super excited! So I just added another rating on my pilot certificate. The examiner said I’m probably pretty close to having to have two certificates but he wasn’t sure at what point you run out of room. Anyone here have to have two certificates?
  6. Nice. Got my pp-rh next week.
  7. I just used a regular box wrench. Didn’t need a stubby. Got to be comfortable working by feel as you won’t see anything.
  8. In my experience nearly all couch potato speculation is just to reinforce existing biases and to cognitively separate from an accident. "I'm much smarter than that guy". Then the real cause is released by the NTSB and everyone has moved on and forgotten the accident. As instructors we have the entire NSTB database of factual findings to teach from, why pick something out of the newspaper with a 30 second investigation by a reported who doesn't know a Cessna from a Boeing?
  9. At larger airports they're using ADS-B to alert ground control if you taxi the wrong way. Just try taxiing out without setting your transponder code now and ground will remind you. Remember in the old days we'd shut the xponder off for taxi??
  10. I think it distracts and leads to nothing but confirmation bias as to what pilots assume are likely causes. Then when the real cause comes out no learning takes place because everyone has already patted themselves on the back for figuring it out.
  11. If you were vfr you probably could have selected the visual to the runway and then you’d have glide slope.
  12. And your afm will be updated for any stc that alters that.
  13. Am I being too smart ?
  14. Dawn actually is amazingly abrasive
  15. In my case its the plunger pivot (#7 in the diagram) that is stiff. Only real solution is to drill it out and replace the pin in it. So far I've lived with it stiff. At one point there was a Bonanza guy who repaired them. Even drilled out the body and put a collar in since they eventually egg out.
  16. Vfr has more complex airspace. Ifr makes it easy.
  17. That’s likely the issue. Will work fine without an air load. If the splines are a little worn they may slip under load but work on the jacks
  18. The reason rates are up is because underwriters left the market because it’s not profitable. That tells you something
  19. Mine was a water skiing injury so I assume it’s some type of tear.
  20. Biggest thing I saw when researching this is you need electrical power. There are some that don’t call for it but they’re less effective. So an electrician to install an outlet where there typically is not one
  21. I’m seeing studies suggesting the PT without the surgery is successful
  22. The funny thing is that when the ortho told me he suspected I’d need this he said “don’t worry it’s a very simple procedure”. I guess he meant simple for him.
  23. The suspension for me is that the muscle is torn. MRI is back just need to wait for my next appt for the dr to look at jt.
  24. That statement can be applied to many situations. Hehe
  25. Water skiing. Wife was not happy she had to drive the boat while I was skiing and she was very aggressive on the throttle and pulled my arm when I wasn’t expecting it.
