They came off of my J. When I went on Lasar's website, they make no mention of any different size covers. When I measure them, they are 6 3/8" and 7 3/8" diameter respectively. I'm running a 5.00 on the nose tire and 6.00 on the mains If I remember correctly.

I have two spare Telex headsets for sale. I honestly don't know what they are worth but am open to offers on either unit.

Now that my fairly recent panel has been completed and I'm happy with it, I guess it's time to sell some of the removed parts. According to my avionics shop, my original GX60 had developed a connection problem somewhere between the comm unit and the controls. He could not repair it but said it is a good parts unit and the display should be fine. I purchased a replacement GX60 that had 175 total hours since new when I bought it from a gentleman who had it in an RV 6 he had built. I used it for about 50 hours before installing the new panel so I know it has about 225 hours TTSN. The Mid Continent CDI is also included if needed or can be sold separately. Just to clarify, what I have for sale is: (1) GX 60 GPS/Comm with tray and connections that works correctly. (1) GX 60 GPS/Comm that would be good as a parts unit. (1) Mid Continent CDI for above All of the above for $1500 shipped to you.

If you are in the Bay Area of California, we have a 201J w GTN 750, GTX345, firewall forward overhauled or replaced 350 hours ago, new interior, etc, etc for $149/hr wet. Several local instructors available. Any questions, just ask. It's my plane that I have on leaseback to my club. Tim

Bonal, please reread the original post. The part was picked up curbside. Nothing was dropped off to the FBO. No services whatsoever were used. This was why we were genuinely confused about the charge. No, we did not call ahead as we apparently should have. Lesson learned on that point. It appears calling ahead needs to be added to the preflight list when going to unfamiliar airports. I still contend that as a tax paying citizen, there should be no fee to simply park on a public use ramp when absolutely zero services are utilized for such a short turn around. If we spent the night or even stayed a few hours, used any services at all, then I have no argument with fees if properly posted.

This post was intended as a pirep of what I perceive to be an FBO gouging customers just because they think they can. I honestly wondered if this was a common practice. Most of my flying career has avoided facilities like this. My landing there did not affect this business in any way, shape or form. Why do they feel they have the right to charge for absolutely nothing. Had I even gone to the restroom, at least there would have been value. Whether I can afford it or not is absolutely irrelevant. The ramp had to have been at least 50 acres with about 6 or 7 planes on it. We were in no ones way for sure. Yes, we could have called ahead but, I somehow believed the $100,000 or so dollars I pay every year in other taxes covered this public use facility. Shame on me. Most people on this forum have a certain educated decorum about themselves whether they agree with me or not. That is your right. Name calling and getting personal is indicative of who you are as a person. Thinwing, I sent you a personal response. Feel free to follow up anytime.

Landed at Mather today near Sacramento to pick up an aircraft part that was being delivered to the airport FBO, Sacramento Jet Center. The name alone should have been a tip-off. We parked about 200 yards from the FBO building and walked to the door. The delivery lady was waiting out by the curb with the part in a small box. Turned around and walked back to the plane to leave. We were on the ground no more than 5-10 minutes. Some young 20 something kid pulled up in his little truck and physically parked in front of the plane. He said he was there to collect the landing fee of $20. My buddy thought he was joking and just laughed. We got in the plane to leave and the kid just kept sitting there waiting. My friend got out and asked him to move. He said no, that he was going to collect his money. My friend told him that we had received absolutely no services from them and had not parked anywhere near their FBO so why should we be charged to park on a public ramp? The kid just kept saying "it's my job". For the life of me, I cannot wrap my head around how they feel compelled to charge you for this. Is this common? They can rest assured, if the goal was to keep GA planes out, they have succeeded as far as I am concerned. Total rip off.

If you live anywhere in or near California and need a small but strong tug, read on.... This tug has belonged to my Father in Law for 10 years that I know of. We finally sold the Cessna 195 so we don't need it anymore. I have looked it over and cannot find a data plate as to who the manufacturer is. It looks like some Harlan tugs but I'm just not sure. The engine is a Continental. Have no idea how many hours on it. I know it cranks and runs very smoothly. Has a manual 3 speed hydrostatic transmission. It will run about 15 or so mph top speed but works best at very low speed and high torque operations. It will turn extremely tight and get into surprisingly small parking spots. Everything on it seems to work fine. The lights on top are very useful around the hangar at night. I know it was used for towing a Bamboo bomber, T6 and most recently the 195. Very strong yet small machine. It does smoke a fair amount from the engine but it has been doing this for the 10 years I've seen it around. It is currently at Livermore, Ca but can easily be trailered. $2,000 or best cash offer. Tim

Considering the number of empty ships going to China on a regular basis to import their copied goods, I think it would be fairly simple and cheap to transport any amount of heavy equipment to their plants. The reality is, the physical size of the machines used to produce the parts are not really that large comparatively. The other option is something they are masters of, copying. If they can't transport it, they will copy it. They simply need the engineering drawings and they would be up and running in weeks. The certification process could be completed rather swiftly if the proper authorities are involved. I think it's rather naive of any American to believe our products and processes are safe regardless of the end product or complexity where China is concerned. Strong sales in China will help solidify the overall Mooney market and support. Until sales increase, regardless of country or origin of product, the bottom line will dictate the future of our beloved Mooney's. The simple fact that Dr Chen was expendable in such a short time tells us what the Chinese think of our productivity.
-
How long do you think it will be before they either build a plant in China or close the Kerrville plant and move it? Once GA starts to become financially profitable in China, what is the incentive to continue producing more expensive US versions when they can copy them in China for pennies on the dollar? The flip side of that same question is, would a Chinese produced Mooney for half price or less be a good product for US markets?

The plane left its parking place a few days ago. I saw it taxi over to fuel and then not sure of disposition. Maybe Alan will get back to you.

Another consideration is KLVK if the weather is down across the bay. I can't tell you the number of times the weather is bad in the Bay and literally stops at the ridge line just west of LVK. We are in VFR frequently when the whole bay is sacked in .

Call Faeth Aircraft with a part number. 916 368 1832. I bought 5 Klixons the other day for $5 each - used but work like new.

WANTED: panel lighting rheostat M20J
helitim replied to ujhan's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
That's the kind of repairs we like! Good going -
Having just recently gone through the process, I must agree with the previous comments here. It is a slow and arduous process that can be quite pricey. To find an aircraft with all the items that you would want would be difficult at best. Find one with the big ticket items taken care of and then spend your time and money fine tuning it for your needs. P.S. My panel is not quite as nice as many here but, not as pricey either. Your choice.

WANTED: panel lighting rheostat M20J

Follow the wires from the back of the rheostat to the resistor connection. That's where my problem was. -
WANTED: panel lighting rheostat M20J
helitim replied to ujhan's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
They are on the same circuit but, they have separate wires powering each set of lights coming from behind the rheostat. I had one come off just last week that controlled the glareshield while all the others worked fine. Took a while to figure out the problem because I didn't realize there was more than one power wire. -

There is a lot of glare coming thru the windshield. These pictures do not do the panel justice. It looks better in person.
