  1. My another question is what could happen if this kind of defect developed during a flight. Could the spinner disintegrate and cause catastrophic failure of the prop or engine?
  2. Spinner.
  3. Thanks.
  4. My spinner has cracked. Actually a small piece under one of the screw broke off. The broken piece is still there under the screw. My question is : Can any A&P weld it or do I have to send it to a certified welder? I am in NJ. Thanks
  5. I have IO 360 A3B6 engine in my M20J. What is the best spark plug for the engine? I am located in NJ, if weather has anything to do with it. Also, I was told that bottom plugs could be different from the top ones ( fine wire ???) as my engine is not super smooth while taxiing around 1000 - 1200 RPM. It misses regularly. I lean while taxiing. ( BTW, what is the best practice to lean on taxi? ). Thanks.
  6. I have been there. Two months ago. Congrats.
  7. I think mine is polished aluminum. How you can say for sure?
  8. I have polished spinner on my 3 blade propeller ( M20J) and I'd like to get it really nice and shiny. I am not sure what kind of material it is made of and what kind of polish agent I should use.
  9. It was like that for last 18 months I think. I don't remember exactly as I had it 6 months for free with the purchasing different Garmin devices.
  10. Garmin pilot starts at $ 74.99 / year for basic subscription that gives you all the navigational functions, weather, sectionals, A/FD, instrument procedures. For anther $ 74.99 / year you will get Premium IFR package that includes Safe Taxi with georeference, Terrain / Obstacle, Synthetic Vision and georeferenced instrument charts and plates.
  11. I just stopped to empty my fridge every night in preparation for next day food shopping. I could drink a gallon of milk in one day. When I go shopping now my cart is full of fruits, vegetables and fish. No bread, no red meat, very little cheese, soy milk ( I love that cheese and milk). Our shopping trips went from twice a week to one in two weeks. After while I could buy size 34 again and all of the sudden there was more money for AV gas to spend. And finally I can make the Steam Boat slope all the way down in one shot.

  13. I will report back in a month. Starting tomorrow.
  14. I am still in the transition for the insurance purposes. I need another 3 hours ( maybe today) of solo. I did fly Arrow before and found nothing hard about the Mooney. I have landed it at 80 knots over the fence very first time and it floated a little. We have long long runway here. Then I practiced more and got to the 70 knots. Very smooth landings. I exit to the taxiway before 2000' mark every time. Two weeks ago I have practiced xwind landings as we had 17knots G 22 knots at 90 degrees to the runway. I didn't really want to do that and my policy for now is no flying over 13 knots but my instructor convinced me and we did 12 landings on that windy day. Full rudder every time but it's doable. And actually I really enjoyed it. I felt like snowboarding. I wouldn't try it again just myself if I didn't have to. But I it was good practice in case of emergency.
  15. I am based at KBLM. Nice 7400' strip. It is about 1 hour ride to NYC though.
  16. Yes, Putin uses his Glonass. That's how he found his way to Ukraine.
  17. This is the first time I hear about the skew charts. They look very useful. Any hints how to read them properly?
