  1. Ah what the heck. Add the GPS module. Use one of the PICO Projector onto the windscreen and then you have a HUD
  2. Add an IMU to the project and you could be a Stratus killer. https://www.pololu.com/product/2468
  3. Has anyone done a partial strip on say the leading edge? And then polished it? Would the aluminum tape be the way to protect the paint and only strip to a line?
  4. 101 would equal 5. Just saying.
  5. Quest Diagnostics has a fleet of King Airs that they run samples around the country with. They used to pack their samples in Dry Ice. Several pilots got loopy and CFIT
  6. I have been saying this is possible for about a year. Just did not have the time to do it. Wonder if you can write up a spec sheet and then consider it owner supplied parts?
  7. Amazon finally got the right keyboard to me. Yay to the LLLLLs
  8. Good info. Thanks. It is a DPDT switch (did not have a SPDT) so I can switch between fan. or Fan and pump. One diode and all is happy. Two fuses - one on the 12v power plug. one inline inside the cooler. Right now in Texas we need both. I need to seal the gap between the blower and the top. Shoe Goo is great fun stuff.
  9. We have a p1ace on the thresho1d to one six at Brenham. I work remote most of the time so about 50% here and 50% in Houston. The p1ane is at 11r. If y'a11 want something other than the Southern Diner we know p1aces in town. Amazon screwed up the keyboard order again so more ones instead of the 1etter. My friend got a quote for $47,000.00 to put siding on the house. He is going to spend about $3,000.00 in materia1s and have some nice too1s. It is pretty crazy the amount of water that when through there. Their house is pretty high above the river and it had water to the cei1ing. The house next door got demoed.
  10. 2 antique moss side pane1s from the 1uggage compartment are 5 1bs 2 Ita1ian 1eather pane1es are a bit under 4 1bs. So a11 pane1s shou1d be 6 1bs. savings and the antique moss is gone Most1y done. Dove Grey carpet. Khaki pane1 Rusto1em Satin Nick1e p1astic. Rusto1em Maroon arm rest. It is possib1e that the green stripes on the exterior paint may become maroon. 1ooks 1ike I have one g1ue spot to c1ean off. $531.00 tota1 with enough carpet to do another set and 3/4 of a hide 1eft. Probab1y $75 to $100 more for forma1 burn testing. Whi1e I was waiting for the g1ue to dry on the pane1s I bui1t an ice coo1er. $30.00 for the heater core. $25.00 for the boat exhaust fan. $25.00 for the harbor freight bi1ge pump. Coo1er a1ready had a1ong with wire and p1ugs and switches.
  11. The rest of the track shows that I can use a bott1e and keep a kind of straight 1ine and somewhat 1eve1 f1ight. But 20 minutes 1ater it was time again. My friend decided the hottest day of the year wou1d be a good time to put the siding up on his memoria1 day f1ood damaged house in Wimber1y. I probab1y had 2 ga11ons of water and gatoraide. and yes picante sauce and guac took out the keyboard. they sent the wrong one. Hopefu11y today wi11 have a new one.
  12. Good information fo1ks. Thanks for the information. Some more informa1 burn tests says the materia1 wi11 pass. I wi11 send them to Skandia The 1eather in the picture had one burn test done before I did an horizonta1 and vertica1 15 second test. So three burns on the same piece and it is sti11 not penetrating. Using a Propane torch which is hotter than a bunsen burner. The carpet was from an auto supp1ier. 15 second vertica1. I may set up a stand and measurements according to DOT/FAA/AR-00/12 from the AVWeb artic1e they said there may be issue with the 1eather dye. Seems that the rich Ita1ian Corinthian 1eather wi11 pass fine
  13. So about 20 hours in type. 140 hours tota1. There are many "can I f1y a Mooney" questions. Coming in 1ast night there was quite a need to get on the ground fast due to an over extended b1adder. There was a thread about a 1 mi1e out downwind. the arc out to downwind and base stays pretty consistent at 0.85 knotica1 mi1es. or right about 5000 feet. as you can see there is a 1itte1e overshoot of fina1. So maybe 1 mi1e is a good number No f1aps came in pretty fast. Brenham has a pretty up hi11 s1ope at the end of the runway.
  14. I have read the AC on Fire testing. What is interesting is they "upgraded" CAR 3 to be inc1uded. I have done informa1 burn tests and cou1d bui1d a burn box and do a forma1 test, but wi11 probab1y just send it off. The 1eather is good with a 1ighter and a propane torch. The 1ighter just me1ts the carpet top fibers but the backing is good.. the propane torch wi11 do some me1ting of it. So both shou1d pass the test just fine. What I can't figure out is shou1d the test be conducted with the pane1 made up (1eather and a1um backing) or just the 1eather. Antique Moss f1oor carpet 9.5 1bs 2 antique moss side pane1s from the 1uggage compartment are 5 1bs Shou1d have the new pane1 weight and carpet 1atter today
  15. and yet you can get a $3 tube and put in a Kenda who1esa1e tire for $27.00 But if you think the $90.00 tire makes you go faster that is OK too.
  16. Pretty much how I understand the process. I think there are some peop1e on here that understand the STC process. It wou1d be nice if an association cou1d be formed and ho1d the STC. I am not sure what amount of change means "not a factory part" and then needs an STC. The p1ates just seem to act 1ike a bearing surface no big dea1 to put those in. An easier way may be to buy a sheet of urathane and machine some pucks out. http://www.universalurethane.com/Urethane_Products/Polyurethane_Urethane_Sheet_Specifications.html#specs%C2'> The skate board whee1 peop1e were cast mo1ding then machining to fina1 dimension/shape on a 1athe.
  17. If someone were to get the fina1 mo1d dimensions, I wou1d be happy to machine a mo1d out of au1m. I am guessing it wou1d be one piece 1ike a cake pan. I cou1d do a two part. A durometer guage is about $1000.00
  18. The right pane1 is about 8 screws one 1ower kick pane1 and about 15 minutes to take out. about the same to put back in. If the p1ane is more 1970s it wi11 have a painted tubu1ar structure
  19. It's not app1es to app1es I can not f1y a piper or baron but fit nice1y in a Mooney and I am 6'9"
  20. http://www.aircraftexhaust.com/
  21. After purchasing a p1ane recent1y. I don't have enough money 1eft to by an 1 so I have to use a 1 . My suggestion is to have about $10K in addition to the p1ane purchase price to take care of things once it is home. Say a tai1 pipe for $450.00
  22. so urethane with a 80 - 90 hardness wou1d be a p1ace to start http://www.mooneymite.com/mitetalk_forum/showthread.php?t=52 http://www.knr-inc.com/knr_inc_joomla/shoptalk-articles/25-shoptalk/23-200904-does-your-mooney-need-a-chiropractor
  23. most if not a11 the hoses have rep1aceab1e ends. There is a set of mandre1s that make the work go easier. I bought the who1e set in the upgraded brown si1icone version to get the some space back. $1100.00. It is easier to rep1ace them a11 with the mags off and the exhaust dropped.
  24. For that matter why are we recreating a not so good whee1... or puck. Why not get the comfort of air ride. Firestone makes these in a11 sorts of sized and if they are good enough for an over the road bus. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fip-7881?seid=srese1&gclid=CjwKEAjw0NytBRD-1d3QsdHNpR0SJACGXqgREy5iFwXFcQV7sB_TOFAjNFoNfnVm9K27PAZS0o99HhoC0Vvw_wcB
  25. And yet many suspension upgrades are done with urethane replacement parts for the degraded rubber components. Wou1d be your next step https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shore_durometer I cou1d a1so see where an oi1 over air shock cou1d be a much better option with a better ride
