  1. Erik, pm me your email address
  2. Apparently the official min oil level depends on nose up down angle. 18 deg up 14 deg down 10 quarts is what documents indicates I can send official Continental PDF if you desire.
  3. I will try and see where I can confirm but 9qts is min oil for 520
  4. Bring that new bird over to 5T6 for the first Annual WesTex Mooney Formation Flight Clinic December 5th - 7th! Great group of pilots and there are a couple 231 that will be here! I get up to Amarillo fairly frequently, just there last weekend have kids and grandkids there. I get to Lubbock from time to time as well.
  5. Congratulations on your new Mooney. I have a 231 Rocket while not exactly the same bird I run LOP and TIT is my limiting factor. Factory TIT always runs as much as 35 F lower than my G4 TIT indicated temp. GAMI told me some information I won't start a slam with but basically high TIT was not necessarily a bad issue.... I still keep mine below Rocket max continuous which in my case 1650 I burn just under 17 gph at 200 TAS at 16k @ at 12k 185 TAS 45 LOP
  6. Quite.. I say Quite there Flanders... What happens in Oshkosh stays in Oshkosh RIGHT! RocketMan is still #1
  7. RocketMan I hear you. This was one of those flights I check the weather multiple times. I have multiple on board weather sources and still called FSS in flight. I'VE never had major concerns with low visibility, however I do carefully watch Ice this time of year. Like you say no matter how many times I practice I always experience the Pucker factor when it's for real! Oh & one thing more I'm so envious of your MS Rocketman name..
  8. I fly a fair amount of IFR but in 30 years of flying. Shot my first LPV down to 300'. While I have had some issues with the Garmin G500 & GTN750 & 650 the synthetic vision was a welcome blessing today! To me it added an extra level of safety. Had my wife and 18mth granddaughter on board, precious cargo!
  9. David I have one and was fairly sure they can be downloaded. They are included in the Mooney PPP syllabus. Let me know if you can't download and I'll scan and email it to you.
  10. Welcome, great looking aircraft. What region of the US are you located?
  11. With 13 Confirmed Pilots and 4 Confirmed Spouses, WesTex is shaping up to be a Premier Formation Clinic! However the most important question is "Are you IN yet"? Come join us, I found formation flight to be the most exhilarating flying I have ever experienced!
  12. Pilots, It is just a month away and the first ever WesTex Mooney Formation clinic is shaping up to be a premiere venue for formation clinics. We have developed tracks for newbies, intermediate, and advanced skills. Whether you are new to the concepts of formation, need a dust off, or want to further your education, this IS the place to be. We want you “IN”. We have gathered experienced formation pilots from several states to get you safely introduced to the skills of formation flying”. They come to share their passion and experience. Our safety pilots will present ground school and small group didactic lesions as well as facilitate your training in the air. Additionally, opportunities to observe formation flights will be part of our curriculum. With just over a month away this clinic is shaping up to be one of the best Formation Flight Clinics for Newbies, Intermediate and Advanced skill sets around! Our primary goal is to introduce, continue to grow the Mooney to Oshkosh Caravan efforts but the clinic is open to our Aviation Brothers and their appropriate aircraft as well. Mooney Caravan works closely across the US with our Bonanza to Oshkosh Brothers. As of now we are expecting 2 to 4 Top Arizona Warbird Formation Pilots (inside source says one is bringing a Real P51!) We have negotiated a very special low rate of $80 per night King room at the new Holiday Inn, includes all the extras (full breakfast, WIFI, Shuttle service). Maybe most important NO cancelation fees should weather or something else come up! Discount on Fuel at the local FBO! Make no mistake we take ALL Formation Flight VERY SERIOUS… SAFTEY IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE #1. In addition to some of the most challenging and fun flying, there will social & fun activity including: Private Tour of the War Eagle Museum A Pilot Social Event to include a TexMex Meal I’m betting like nothing you have ever tasted, cooked right at the event and you can chase it down with an authentic South or North of the Border adult beverage if you choose! For all that can, do bring your wives! Several of the Girls are joining up for some great excursions (U know the kind that cost MONEY and all!) All Topped off with a Saturday Night TexMex Pilot Social and meal. Cost is $75 (covers food and adult beverages, and more)! Trust me we don’t make any money on these clinics, it is purely a labor of passion and only made possible through a tremendous amount of time, effort from a large number of Pilots that support General Aviation. At this point we need to get the head count and experience level from each of you that are planning to attend so we can organize the safety pilot and Sorte schedule, meals etc.: Please indicate, Newbie, Intermediate or Advanced. # Attending Aircraft info N# It is also very important that you ALL go to the mooneycaravan.com website and download the "Mooney Caravan Formation Guide". Read this so that the briefing on Thursday night will be a review and reinforcement of what you need to know about for the clinic, instead of the first time that you are seeing this information. 5T6 Dona Anna Jet Port (Just West of El Paso) Recommended arrival Thursday. Thursday Night Mandatory Newbies Briefing, Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday morning if schedules permit and Pilots desire. Lacee PM me your email if you can join us!!
  13. Banal, Come join us December 5th - 7th. PM me with your email if you desire to be included in the activity! It's going to be a great time, you won't regret it!
  14. Well done! Enjoy your New Panel.
  15. Jeff, would love to hear the "Rest of the story" sometime! But for now a well earned congratulations to you! Also welcome to the Mooney Rocket world, there is nothing like it in my humble opinion! Fly safe
  16. Well come on Hank come join us and go with the Mooney Caravan! Phil aka Buzz produced the video using input from several contributors. The whole adventure was a great experience! So much so I am sponsoring what I hope to be the first annual WesTex-NewMex Mooney Formation Flight Clinic at my home base 5T6 on December 5th - 7th! If anyone is interested let me know, we are expecting to have the full spectrum of newbie's and advanced as well as a few that are working on getting their formation Cards! Oh and did I mention we expect to have some AZ Warbirds joining us!!! Plus a whole lot more fun and activities, including a private tour of the War Eagle Museum on the field, great food and other social activity! Going to be an outstanding time of flight and pilot fun.... There are also a group of spouses that are planning a number of Girl activities!! Come join us! Sorry did not mean to hijack this thread... well maybe I did!
  17. I have the Grotes fly a fair amount at night. Have no personal comparison to W or other brand but Groute is far brighter than GE filament build and does not burn out just when you need it most. I might change someday to brighter but for now the $ value is just fine for me. 110 for the pair, my Rocket takes 2! Fly safe
  18. Well maybe for the price of a prized call sign I won't tell her!
  19. From the album: Formation Flight
