Guest Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 Few days left on the $299 (down from $399) discount Quote
rbridges Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 I think I'm going to try one out. I was going to ask this in a PM, but figured someone else may have the same question. I'd like to use the packs to minimize how much ice is required. I figured this would make things simpler in the field. I see it holds 10, but how many do you recommend? Would you fill it completely with packs or would a combination of packs/ice be better? Quote
Guest Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 Most of the pilots bought 10x packs from us and they run it with 100% gel packs and save the ice money.. or.. they put 1x bag of ice to super cool the water quickly and the rest packs. I definitely recommend the packs. We got 1000x made for us from a medical company and 1x pack is equivalent to probably 6-7x of those hard blue squares. We are almost sold out from all the orders, we have about 4x cases of the packs left. P Quote
rbridges Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 thanks. I'm going to place an order for the cooler and 10x packs. thanks for the help. Quote
Guest Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 Hey, great news! Aircraft Spruce is featuring the IceBox now in their catalog. You guys helped catapult this product from design to featured product in just 1 month. Thanks for believing in it! Im going to make that iphone app, smart thermostat plug-in now. A Spruce and Sporty's have been big supporters of my products (SwitchBox) and now the IceBox is in the catalog. Now that we have an official dealer like A. Spruce, Im going to have to stop the price drops really soon, so this may be the last day to get it cheaper than 'retail'...and direct through us. This is great news! Its been less than a year and all our products are being supported by you guys, Sportys, AOPA, Aircraft Spruce and others. 3 Quote

Htwjr Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 I would like to order an Icebox as well as the packs. I did not see how to order the packs on the site. Thanks Quote
Piloto Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Phillip I have to give you credit for the ice portable A/C. But for many of the locations I fly the most I can get is a couple of ice cubes. When it gets too hot I carry with me ice cubes together with bottle water in a small thermal bag. It works very well and keeps you from dehydrating. I also keep ice inside my mouth for added cooling. Cooling your body from inside is very effective also. My wife and I found to be pretty pleasant during taxing. No need after take off and climb. José Quote
Guest Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 We did it, here it is with all the accessories http://www.aircraftspruce.com/search/search.php?s=icebox They're running an intro special for $369 and then it goes to $399 after this week. Im going to have to stop the price cuts very soon, because now the big guys are officially helping spread the word. Thanks for everyone here to catapult the project into their crosshairs so quickly! rbridges Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 I pulled the trigger on it. I'm hoping the ice packs will keep it simple. I look forward to trying it out on the next hot Georgia afternoon. Quote
Guest Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Roger, just got your order Rob. The icepacks definitely keep it simple and you will save a lot of $$ instead of filling your IceBox with gas station ice each time. A lot of the mooney pilots here are finding that using 1x bag of ice and the rest packs give you the perfect balance of cold 'fuel' and longevity from the packs p Quote
Marauder Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Still honoring the $299 price? If so, I will order today. Quote
Guest Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Roger, I am. I think today is the last day on that lower price. We are getting flooded with orders every minute right now. Marauder, PM me so i can get you the special deal Quote
Guest Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Hey Aaron send me a PM so I can get you on the special price Quote
Guest Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 Hey guys, we got a flood of orders yesterday with the Aircraft Spruce news. Im going to run this cheaper special and then take it down shortly, since its been listed in the Spruce Catalog. The price for MooneySpace pilots is $299 right now. Send me a PM if you're interested in a unit. support@switchboxcontrol.com Quote
fantom Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 Maybe a good thing since I'm still looking for pictures of what the IceBox looks like inside a Mooney 201. Do you have any? None on your site; I've searched several times. Since the Box needs to go in through the baggage door, are folks leaving it in the baggage compartment or sitting it on the rear seat....and how's that working out? 1 Quote

If it cools the cockpit enough from the baggage compartment and the power cord reaches, I will leave it there. Worst case, I'll put it in the back seat. I went with the freeze packs in the hopes of eliminating ice or using very little. This should make draining/emptying it simpler--I hope. Phillip emailed me and said it should be hitting the mail asap. Quote
Guest Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 You got the idea Rob. Use the gel packs and you will save a lot of $$ on ice this summer. I designed this IceBox as it can fit in the baggage compartment and then the duct hose goes up and over the back seats. Its collapsible and long, so you can extend it all the way from the back. The idea was 'out of sight, out of mind' just the cooling factor. Though, some guys with 6 seats or the multi guys but it in the middle of the cabin. For 4-seat planes like ours, I recommend the out of sight method. I even designed the power cord, custom length and making them by hand so it will reach all the way back there. Quote
Marauder Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 I ordered one as well and hope it will help. We had a heat wave this summer that made a few trips miserable. I'm hoping that this addresses that. I also hope that unlike my SwitchBox, I get some usage out of it! By the time I ordered it, Spring was already here and pre-heating wasn't necessary! Quote
Guest Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 Well you're in luck now This summer you will have AC in your cabin and you can remote start it with your winter 'SwitchBox' Then... in the winter, you can finally get your SwitchBox to use and remote start your new cabin heater... an IceBox filled with hot chocolate ha p Quote
