larryb Posted March 9, 2013 Report Posted March 9, 2013 Hello: Yesterday I went to fly and my Kap 100 autopilot in my '84 J failed to self test. Normally when this happens my electric trim switch is off. Not this time. The electric trim switch is on and the electric trim works. When the self test completes the sonalert continues to beep forever and the "TRIM" light stays lit. I did try the self test with the electric trim switch off. The difference is at the completion of the self test, when the trim switch is off, is the "TRIM" light is flashing. My current fail has the "TRIM" light on constant. If you ingore the beeping, the autopilot engages and works normally. Has this happened to anybody else? Ideas? Does anybody know exactly what the self test is actually testing? What is it looking for? Thanks, Larry Quote
larryb Posted March 20, 2013 Author Report Posted March 20, 2013 Problem fixed by my local avionics shop, a pin in the tray connector not making good contact. Larry Quote
