Wildhorsesracing Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 Be careful not to fly to close to "hidden no fly zones"... http://www.aopa.org/aircraft/articles/2013/130110secret-no-fly-zone.html?WT.mc_id=&wtmcid;&WT.mc_sect=gan&cmp=ePlt:Phto Quote
scottfromiowa Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 (edited) I read this online last week. What a bad deal for the glider pilot. Example of TSA and local law enforcement misuse of power...not like the glider can just Go when asked. Bad judgement by nuke plant personnel too. Airport employee tried to help but Barney had to be badass and aggressive on a glider with a 70 year old pilot. Where was due process? Do TSA wear jackboots? tyrefoote Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 I've heard about alot more of this within the seaplane flying community. Quote
1964-M20E Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 Not to mention the ones around major sproting events not published, not on the FAA TFR web site, ATC deos nto know where they are and who knows where the events are if you are not from the area. Gov't with power is dangerous, Gov't run by idiots is deadly. Quote

Cabanaboy Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 Sounds like Boss Hogg found a new County. Ros-co-P coal train, out. 2 Quote

Sounds like a defense for our glider pilot. Quote
omega708 Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 I too read this article over the weekend, scary stuff for sure. The part the bothers me the most is the quote below... "Fleming waited outside the courtroom Aug. 21 as his case went before the judge. When his attorney returned and said the case would be dismissed if he agreed not to take any legal action against Darlington County law enforcement, he said, he reluctantly agreed." Now that's a load a crap... I am not a litigious person, but hearing these types of things coming out of court rooms truly bothers me. 1 Quote
David Mazer Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 I too felt the agreement to only drop the charges if he agreed not to sue them was very bothersome. On what basis did they intend to charge him? I don't believe it even happened in their jurisdiction? I very well may have been tempted to become Don Quixote and make it my mission to demonstrate the limitations of government and the stupidity of people taking authority they do not have. Or, in other words, I'm glad it didn't happen to me but it could. As Martin Niemöller said: First they came for the socialists , and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists , and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews , and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me. So, I wonder, is there a way to band together and sue the crap out of these guys so no other police force does the same thing? 1 Quote
FlyDave Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 For all you attorneys - doesn't the following paragraph describe either a form of extortion or blackmail? Fleming waited outside the courtroom Aug. 21 as his case went before the judge. When his attorney returned and said the case would be dismissed if he agreed not to take any legal action against Darlington County law enforcement, he said, he reluctantly agreed. Quote
