Honestly, folks I don’t have a horse in this race.  I don’t care if you buy JPI or Garmin, or something else, but I think anyone considering a new panel should have a fair representation  of what the Garmin EIS can do, and it’s unique benefits

Agree 100%.  I like what I like and I know that.  It's great that we have so many options these days...many of which were not available in 2014-2015 when I was in my last upgrade mode.  Perhaps I'll choose differently if/when I spring for a PFD.

More questions for the Garmin EIS users since I'm too lazy to dig into a manual I may or may not be able to d/l from Garmin... it looks like I could display all EIS data at once, but only in a split screen mode, which means PFD + engine monitor, correct?  (Assuming single 10" G3X screen).  Otherwise, the option is the reduced data strip, PFD, MFD if I understand correctly.  Does Garmin have a normalize mode now, that shows very fine movements of EGT?

Depends on your plane. Mine being turbocharged, TIT and fuel flow are primary.

with the four-cylinder version you can show a bar graph of all four cylinders in the EIS strip. Not for 6

IMO, you should still watch all cylinders EGT and CHT for diagnostics, after you've leaned by TIT/fuel flow.

I don't have the answers to your questions off the top of my head. When you think you might want a PFD, you might want to read the manual. and I'm not a flight engineer, and don't pretend to be one. I upload my EIS logs to SavvyAviation and they review them.

The EIS strip can be on the left or on the right side of the display. The MFD split can be either on the left or the right. I happen to have it set up with the EIS trip on the left and the split on the right  if they were both configured to be on the same side, you would see all the gauges together
This is the display on the MFD

CHTs, but no EGTs?

If I was going Garmin route, I would get the MFD (7”) just to display the EIS.

They are both there

The EIS strip should show all with the 4 cyl bar graph

So I had to chuckle reading your comment about the 80's video game display...one of the main reason's I chose the EI CGR-30 combo gauges are how modern and crisp the display is, and to be very frank the reason why I chose the Electronics International setup over the JPI.  I would go one step further to say the tech and sales support from EI is nothing short of phenomenal.  In my opinion the CGR-30 combo gauge far exceeded competitive offerings for very similar investment costs.  The set up took out all the gauges across the top of the panel, fuel, oil, etc; took out the MP and Tach from the far right of the panel and has left open some serious real estate in the panel for all the new stuff going in and then some.  I will be posting pics as soon as this whole thing is finished up.

Let’s invite @oregon87 to stop by and see this pirep… :)

The thing that really stands out with Big G’s EIS…

Is the the flight recording that it does…

If you ever wanted to review what you hit during a flight… somewhere in the file it probably got collected…

I like the EI guy that is around here often supporting MSers with their engine monitor questions…

EI has a few things that people like better… Don Kaye loves his!

JPI is most popular… probably got out of the gate first, and hasn’t lost the momentum…

+1 For get the LB, then upgrade the panel…

Use caution with this approach…. It might be a while before panel updates get in the plan….   :)

Best regards,

Lots of different software does this, but this particular screen comes from the Garmin “IflyGarmin” website

I assume you mean the flygarmin.com website as there is no IflyGarmin website.

I did an in-depth search of the flygarmin site and the only analyzer I found was for turbine engines. I am particularly interested in the G5 flight simulation shown on the top right side of your screenshot, above the engine analyser.

Are you able to provide a website link or the name of the different software you mentioned above as I could only find a site called flightdata.com that did not seem to have flight simulation?

Sorry for the thread drift.

Above picture of the new panel...and man what a difference.  Lafayette Avionics suggested the A/P to the top of the stack based on numerous other customer comments and it makes a difference.  I picked the plane up in a bouncy day and having the dials located where they are made everything easy to tune.  Also, the left hand dial controls all the functions on the GI-275's so inputs into the 275's are 1000 times easier than trying to touch screen or use the dials on the 275's themselves.  My only complaint on this install is that I didn't spend an extra $1000 or so an change out all the Klixon switches to new style metal switches while the plane was ripped apart.

Also, I cannot speak highly enough of the complete and meticulous job Lafayette Avionics did with this plane.  Any minor detail was covered, discussed and implemented with zero change to the quoted installation price.  I did, based on his recommendation, add two Stratus USB chargers to the panel at an additional cost of $420 bucks.  Included in the total install was the G500 A/P with auto trim, GNX 275 transponder with GPS, Garmin 345 audio panel and the GNC 255 and GTR 225 radios.
