Any idea on the effort to install the override? Is it a simple install ?

It’s not that difficult. The most difficult part was figuring out the wiring changes that needed to be made. To make that easier, my IA and I sat down to draw it out. If this isn’t easy to read, let me know and I will scan it and send it to you as a PDF.

Mark at top gun was thinking it could be the up limit switch. Not sure why that would cause this issue. The up limit shouldn’t have been depressed at any point here.

Unfortunately this may be tough since I can’t reproduce it now.

it also doesn’t appear there is any documentation on the gear horn. It says it’s activated throttle position switch  but in this case the throttle was at full.

Gear horn requires…

throttle out switch and gear up switch… of some form…

throttle in usually precludes the throttle out switch from being activated… unless it has become loose…

Find the switch riding on the throttle control just under the panel…

Best regards,

Yea I’m familiar with that but I’ve never had the horn go off with it at full throttle. Once I got the gear up the horn stopped. Never touched the throttle. There is some undocumented logic in the gear horn that seems to be related to the squat switch.

Just spoke with Maxwell who said 100% just replace the donuts. :)  it’s just odd to me that the service manual and the electrical diagrams don’t show this gear horn squat switch logic.

I think if the up limit switch isn’t closed as in doesn’t have good contact from oxidized contacts, then the motor won’t get power to raise the gear. The switch has to be closed for them to come up, then the switch opens stopping the motor, so yes it could be the up switch.
