rotorman Posted October 24, 2021 Report Posted October 24, 2021 The factory EGT indicator on my 20J has become unreliable. The needle is jittery to the point of being useless. It is acting like a wiring problem. Could someone give me some guidance on how start to trouble shooting this? What would be the best sequence.? Remove the glare shield and start at the gauge or start at the probe wiring? I have an early Insight and have had probe failures on it. Neither of those failures looked like what I am seeing on the gauge. Quote
Joe Larussa Posted October 24, 2021 Report Posted October 24, 2021 I would start with what’s easiest. The probe I would think? Quote
Jay Bird Posted October 25, 2021 Report Posted October 25, 2021 If you find it is the gauge there is one from a 1981 201 on eBay that was working just fine when it was removed from the aircraft for $20, I bet that guy would take $15 . It is more likely the probe or the wire to the probe that is the issue. 22 hours ago, rotorman said: at would be the best sequence.? Remo Quote

rotorman Posted November 15, 2021 Author Report Posted November 15, 2021 Lasar is out of stock on EGT probes. Any suggestions and part numbers and suppliers for the factory gauge's egt probe? Quote
rotorman Posted December 4, 2021 Author Report Posted December 4, 2021 Finally got around to changing out the EGT indicator with the used Ebay one. Solved the problem. 2 Quote
