NateZ Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 This is just the one piece replacement and not the 201 windsheild mod correct? Nate Quote
Ned Gravel Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Looks like the 201 windshield to me. I have the one piece on mine and its slope is more vertical than the one in your photo. Quote
PilotDerek Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 If there is room between the bar and the windshield it is the 201 mod. Looking at your kidney panels, I agree it does look like the 201 windshield. Quote
takair Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 It is, the leading edge almost comes to the cowl and the avionics access panels are shrunken. Quote
NateZ Posted December 14, 2011 Author Report Posted December 14, 2011 Ok thanks guys, i dunno why but at some angles it doesn't look like it to me, thats why I figured I would just get a definative answer here, and leave me out of it. Nate Quote
NateZ Posted December 14, 2011 Author Report Posted December 14, 2011 Quote: JimR If I am not mistaken it is a Southwest Texas Aviation, Inc. 201 windshield conversion. Not a true OEM 201 windshield. The difference being the 201 cowl deck assembly, which it lacks. Makes for a little less "clean" installation, in my opinion, but it preserves at least some of the rear avionics access of the original vintage Mooney windshield installation. Jim Quote
flight2000 Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 +2 for Jim. When I did my mod with the Lasar kit, I completely lost the access panels to the avionics in front of the windshield. The SWTA version is a cross between the one piece and the OEM version. The Lasar kit is a straight OEM version, but think Ray got the last one they made. Pics are on my website, just to much work to link it through an iPad right now... Brian Quote
DaV8or Posted December 15, 2011 Report Posted December 15, 2011 +3 for Jim. It's a SWTA 201 windshield. Meaning in fact that it is the same 201 windshield in shape aerodynamicaly, but the mounting retains a bit of the original Mooney avionics access. They did something similar when they did their 201 style cowling. They merged the Lo Presti 201 designed cowl with the original cowl to preserve the original cheek panels for quick access. It's because Russell at SWTA spent a lot of time working on Mooneys before he started modding Mooneys and so his mods have a bit of the mechanic-that-has-to-work-on-it in them. Kind of cool in my book. Quote
