The stock nut is a thin stamped part and, if I use it, it will destroy the paint in the area.  What you see here now is the plastic beauty nut which I don't trust.  Hoping I can order a good looking metal version somewhere.

66' E Model by the way.

I can't help you with the size of the nut, but would make a suggestion of buying a plastic washer to put under it.

The other issue is if I put the stock nut on the beauty nut doesn’t work anymore and the stock nut is ugly... lol

This is because the new panel is thicker than the old.

Not sure if the size but it’s pretty standard for ignition switches both  older aviation and automotive, I went to Napa Auto and got a cheap switch just for the nut, I think it was for an old ford truck

I'll probably get crucified for this but the ignition switch stem is universal size.  You can go to a Napa or local auto supply store that has a HELP section and you can get an aluminum bezel that fit the stem.  They come in black and chrome or you can get a Doorman solutions nut that is a chrome plated and is a nut.

OK, now that the logic and good ideas have come out...

Lets go expensive, and off the wall....   :)

If going electronic mag in the future...

Consider the mag switches that go with that...

This thing...

It helps with the electronic delay that occurs with the standard switch...

PP thoughts only, not a mechanic...
