too many wires for a voltage regulator. though I could be wrong...... I believe there are typically 4 20 awg wires and maybe 2 additional  wire for over voltage light.

I think all Js have VRs on the copilot footwell.

If it’s a trim relay, then obviously it should be pulled as well if going with GFC500 route. I would talk to avionics shop about.
