bnicolette Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Gee Bee baffles are complete. Haven't picked up my plane yet, so I'm not sure yet what the temp difference will be. But below are some pics the shop sent me. Quote
jetdriven Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 looks just like ours, sans ram air. I picked the blue color like yours because I read it gives more HP than black or red. Quote
bnicolette Posted December 19, 2011 Report Posted December 19, 2011 Right on Byron! I had to go bright. I like the way you have the shields painted. I will take some pics of the cowl mod when I pick my plane up. They did say that it was pretty simple to install and apparently the cowling is VERY tight now. He didn't take any pictures of that install. Quote
bnicolette Posted January 3, 2012 Report Posted January 3, 2012 Attached are the differences the new Baffling made. The CHT's are much closer in addition to being about 30 degrees cooler. Quote
jetdriven Posted January 3, 2012 Report Posted January 3, 2012 We observed a ~40 degree reduction but our old seals were totally shot, the rear top seal was blown out backwards. The seals on the bottom had staples in it from 1977. Since then, we rigged the cowl flaps to close completely, and brought the timing back up to 25 degrees, so now the CHT is about 20 degrees warmer than after the seal change, but still totally manageable. We can still rig the cowl flpas open 1/4" per the Mooney Service manual if needed. Quote
Emmet Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 Hi, I just found this unapproved parts notification from the FAA. Does anybody know if it is this still valid? How can a legal replacement with silicon rubber seals be done? Quote
carusoam Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 Guy, Please post a statement clarifying the FAA approval status of the GB products. Best regards, -a- Quote
