mikejr718 Posted October 27, 2018 Report Posted October 27, 2018 Flew a friend from bta to ear to pick up a Cherokee. Cam back as a flight of two. Really had to pull back the power so he could keep up 3E7F2CFB-CFFB-40BD-BCD4-6E2DFC6CF903.MOV 1 Quote

jetdriven Posted October 28, 2018 Report Posted October 28, 2018 (edited) many years ago I flew up from Tulsa to Ohio in a Cherokee 180 to get a freshly purchased M20E. We flew back together in formation, around 120 knots. Landing in St. Louis and also in Tulsa, the Mooney took half the gas. Same CID engine. Half the gas. I ran it at 15" and 2400 RPM, it was barely enough to keep the heater warm. Edited October 28, 2018 by jetdriven 2 1 Quote
Hank Posted October 28, 2018 Report Posted October 28, 2018 I used to give rides on Airport Day with several 172z and a Cherokee 180. I'd pull back to less than 20" / 2300 and keep reducing throttle to not run over them (16"? 17"?). It worked well when I paid close attention to power settings the first flight or two, then used it the rest of the day. Quote
