kortopates Posted August 2, 2017 Report Posted August 2, 2017 Continental announces new Tempest oil filter part no's with a new gasket that they say is easier to remove in SIL 17-03. See attached SIL. SIL17-03.pdf Quote
peevee Posted August 2, 2017 Report Posted August 2, 2017 weird, no more dc4 then eh? CAUTION: Do not apply lubricant or sealing compound to the new replacement filter gasket. Applying any lubricant or sealing compound to the replacement filter (see Table 1) may adversely affect the gasket’s anti-stick properties. Quote
DonMuncy Posted August 2, 2017 Report Posted August 2, 2017 Is this (sticking filters) a problem on champion filters, or just Tempest. I have never seen a filter that was a problem to remove, but have always used Champions. As an aside, I think that Tempest should put a more noticeable warning on their new ones. The entrenched method of lubricating filter gaskets is going to be hard to ignore until everyone learns the new procedure. 1 Quote
thinwing Posted August 2, 2017 Report Posted August 2, 2017 Only sticking filters I've run into were grossly over tightened...i.e. More than a 1/4 turn past what I can do by rubber gloved hand Quote
