flyboy0681 Posted April 18, 2017 Report Posted April 18, 2017 I've been stranded twice and it's never dissuaded me from taking long trips. As many have said here, there's usually a mechanic on field that can get you on your way, the only question is cost.

When my [Slick] mag died, the on-field shop didn't have parts for it, and had to send it out. Then he sent two more mags out the next day, so naturally the OH shop did those two before mine. It was over a week from landing on one mag to receiving the OHed mag back. And no, I didn't wait it out, I drove back. Brought my mother in law down to visit, drove her back and got the plane. It won't always work out that neatly . . .
