DonMuncy Posted July 9, 2016 Report Posted July 9, 2016 On today's flight, activating speed brakes (Precise Flight - electric) caused the breaker to trip. Is removal to look for the cause something a relatively talented hangar elf could attempt. The installation manual says the unit should be returned to Precise Flight for repair.
milotron Posted July 9, 2016 Report Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) Don, I have pulled one of mine a couple of times due to some limit switch issues. Lots of screws in the top, a cover on the bottom and a bracket inside to unscrew and that is it. To take them out requires a bit of wiggling to get the right angle, plus the cable makes it a tight fit. I don't know where the connector is for mine, so I just lower it out the bottom of the wing and support it to work on it. A little awkward but it works. One of mine is still really slow up and down due to high contact resistance in one of the limit switches. I'll replace the switch one of these days... Edited July 9, 2016 by milotron spelling
N601RX Posted July 10, 2016 Report Posted July 10, 2016 A couple of things could cause the problem. A clue may be how quickly it trips. weak breaker or bad connection to breaker shorted wire mechanical binding that causes motor to draw current than normal bad motor
N201MKTurbo Posted July 10, 2016 Report Posted July 10, 2016 Try them on the ground and make sure the motors stop when they are up and down. If one of the limit switches isn't working the motors will keep running and mechanically stall the motors.
