mooneyflyer Posted May 31, 2016 Report Posted May 31, 2016 The CB kept popping on today's flight. Reset several times but no joy. Meter showed normal amps. TCM-IO 550. Checked wiring and wires. Any ideas? Quote

Guest Posted May 31, 2016 Report Posted May 31, 2016 Alternator field or alternator output breaker? Clarence Quote
LANCECASPER Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 I can see resetting it once or maybe twice but continuing to reset it sounds like bypassing the safety of the circuit breaker and a good recipe for an electrical fire. You mention IO-550 - if it's on an Ovation you still had two batteries worth of electricity and maybe even a back-up alternator to get down safely. Quote
carusoam Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 Phil? Is that the alternator CB/Switch between the main and the avionics switches? + 1 for the reset once. Resetting twice can be bad. Several times...? Did you happen to get a reading from a digital amp meter during the flight? I haven't looked at the electrical drawing yet... Best regards, -a- Quote
mooneyflyer Posted June 9, 2016 Author Report Posted June 9, 2016 Problem fixed. Two loose connections from Alternator. Poor maintenance from last (new to me) A&P. Good advice from Forum on not resetting CB too many times. Was troubleshooting with digital meter for changes in voltage/ current before popping. Quote
carusoam Posted June 10, 2016 Report Posted June 10, 2016 Thanks for the follow-up, Phil. Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
