Is that bubbling or dirt/ debris under the clear? Texas Aero at San Marcos? I had a touch up job done there and had some quality issues. Quote
jetdriven Posted February 19, 2017 Report Posted February 19, 2017 (edited) its the paint bubbling off the airplane. Idk if it's the primer too, butits all gotta come off and be redone. I t didn't look like this when he picked it up. I know the owner, but I haven't talked to him yet. The airplane is covered parked outside so it isn't like it's tied down in Arizona or anything. Zwaustin Posted February 19, 2017 Report Posted February 19, 2017 That is unfortunate. I did quite a few leading edge touch ups worth close to $4,000 bucks there. Once it was done after 6 weeks final inspection revealed the paint was over applied and actually dripped in a couple select areas although it felt smooth to the touch due to clear on top of it and being worked smooth. Not what I would expect from any paint shop much less one that charges the type of premium they do. They did offer to fix it but I declined due to turn around times over there and that it was on the underside of the leading edge where unlikely to be noticed. They seem to stay busy over there despite the issues. I was told the Mooney factory no longer uses them due to quality issues owners were having on delivery of new planes, lots of blue taping. I have heard good things about Aerosmith in Longview and also Cimarron in Oklahoma. My plane was also done at Cimarron in 2005 prior to me aquiring and it looks just about new other than normal wear and tear. 1 Quote
