Thanks for all the input.  One last question:

Should I install the new windows before or after new paint?

Posted

I would install prior to new paint, and have the painter "dress" the edges of the paint around the windows with a fine stripe of fuel sealant to keep the paint edges from eroding/peeling, especially on the windscreen.

You must do the windscreen before new paint, due to the retainer strip on the bottom and the 60 or so rivets that must be changed.  The side windows you can do before or after.

Further to Bryon's comment, be sure to strip the paint around the windshield for the first 1/2". Your painter will thank you and there will be no chance of stripper damage to the new windshield.

You guys are such sexists. What about the women pilots on this site? They feel left out.
