231LV Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 I'm moving to Sedona in a couple of months and hoping to find a good shop or mechanic to do my annuals. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Quote
cliffy Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 These's an MSC down in the Phoenix area, about 45 mins away. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 Chandler Aviation is the MSC in Arizona they are at the home drome KCHD. Frank is a good guy. A little expensive, but I've never heard anybody complain about his work. I do all my own work, so all I ever do is buy parts from him. He always has 3 or 4 Mooneys in the shop. Quote
grami-air Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 I know a guy who previously contribued on this forum but has since sold his M20K. I remember him saying he had all the work done at Air-Craftsman in Prescott. I have heard good things about Air-Craftsman and they do all my avionics work. PRC is about 35 NM WSW from SEZ, so fairly close to home. At least worth a phone call ... Quote
Bill_Pyles Posted April 7, 2015 Report Posted April 7, 2015 I moved to AZ from the bay area, but I take my M20J to Top Gun in KSCK (Stockton) and they do good work. Quote
Tankinbarber Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 Las Vegas has a great mechanic I use for my 1985 m20k 231 Rocket. PM me and I will send you the info if Vegas is close enough for you. Quote

Ned Gravel Posted July 24, 2015 Report Posted July 24, 2015 Sedona is a lovely place with a challenging approach for those who are not used to a tabletop mountain runway. I bounced twice. But I bought the hat. "USS Sedona SEZ CV 3-21" Two days later I heard the story of the Mooney crew that bounced off the end of the runway over the bluff a few years ago. The story was related to me by the owner of that J model. Today, he is still looking for another Mooney. Enjoy your time in Sedona. Try and be proficient catching the No. 1 wire. The world (in that restaurant) is watching every time someone lands there. Quote
flyboy0681 Posted July 24, 2015 Report Posted July 24, 2015 A day before I was there in October 2013 a Mooney went off the end of the runway during a go-around attempt. Nobody was seriously hurt but the plane was destroyed. Quote
