IndyTim Posted February 1, 2015 Report Posted February 1, 2015 I believe my left fuel tank vent is plugged up. I read that i may be able to free it up with some safety wire. Is the vent in the attached picture, about 12 inches outboard of the pitot tube?
carusoam Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 The older planes (C ) have a tube sticking vertically down... Newer ones (R ) have the tube hidden in a backwards facing NACA looking alcove. They are the only thing tube like under the wing. There is one in each wing, look for the brother/twin to help identify what they look like. They are outboard of each tank. It is important to keep the vents clear. They will impede fuel flow. While oil-canning the sheet metal... You may hear the vacuum release when you open the tank's cap. Piloto has described blowing air in the vent and listening at the cap to demonstrate the system working. Some tubing may be required.... Outdoor spring bug challenge. Best regards, -a-
IndyTim Posted February 2, 2015 Author Report Posted February 2, 2015 Thanks, that's what I thought. I've got the vent tube identified. Now just gotta clear it.
