Mooneymite Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 My neighbor has just put his home up for sale. I have no financial interest in this at all....I'm just a neighbor. If you really want to get utility out of aircraft ownership and keep your airplane in your own hangar, consider keeping it at your house! While people do not normally associate Mooneys with turf runways, this is not your average "off field" variety. 4500'X150'! My insurance broker does not charge extra for this location. There are presently several Mooneys located here. Two J's, four C's, and a couple of E's that I can think of. Do not tell your wife, but the hangar is big enough for two Mooneys. https://www.coldwellbanker.com/property/550-Mallard-Ln-Locust-Grove-GA-30248-MLS-7363629 http://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sale/Henry-County-GA-30248/14912940_zpid/70980_rid/33.374441,-84.128709,33.335512,-84.21248_rect/13_zm/1_fr/?view=map https://www.google.com/maps/place/550+Mallard+Ln,+Locust+Grove,+GA+30248/@33.36595,-84.169006,291m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x88f45c3e89097f4f:0xc98aa9d09b7066aa Quote

Unfortunately, we already have enough residents of New Jersey in the neighborhood. You will either have to improve your repetoire of jokes, or be "from somewhere else". Actually, in my book, a neighborhood is judged by how many Mooneys are based there. I'm trying to improve our standing. 6 Quote

kmyfm20s Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 I think it's the pinup posters of BBW hes after:) Just leave the hangar door open after you move in. Quote

Ya'all know that I probably qualify as a Southerner not only because of the drinks I drink but that I am indeed probably the only one of you that has a nice gun rack built for my Mooney. Just ask Bambi... 2 Quote
Mooneymite Posted November 18, 2014 Author Report Posted November 18, 2014 Took a look on the coldwell site and started to crack up, that same set up out here would go for over 2 million Location, location, location.... Right? When Western Airlines became part of Delta Air Lines, all those California pilots came to Atlanta and thought they were in the candy store. They bought the biggest houses they could find with the change left over from their CA closings...and still had money left over. Drove prices up and kind of ruined the cheap housing here.... 2 Quote

I am not a big venison guy but do like deer meat jerky. My brother on the other hand feeds his entire family for the year on what we catch. BTW -- if you hadn't figured it out, that one is stuffed. This is the one from last year. Will be back up there this weekend to complete the mission. Unfortunately 3 feet of snow and more to come is forcing me to drive Quote

Marauder Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 Trick you learned to sedate your Pilots N Paws clients? Actually they are pretty calm. Aside from the fact they seem to like to fart a lot. Quote
Mooneymite Posted November 18, 2014 Author Report Posted November 18, 2014 She will drink ANY beer. Well, at least your dog would fit in..... Is her name "Bo"? Quote
Jeff_S Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 That is a nice looking house, and I've flown into Mallard's Landing. With any medium or short-body Mooney it is a fine strip. Not sure if I'd trust it with the Ovation though. On the Zillow link, it shows another house in the neighborhood with a price closer to $1M, but it's about three times the size. As to the deer hunters, coming from Kansas originally I have no philosophical problem with hunting...killed plenty of birds and smaller critters in my day...but I just couldn't bring myself to shoot a deer. They're just too pretty, and probably too closely resemble the horses I grew up training and cherishing. Quote
Marauder Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 I thought you Yankees all had snow tires on your Mooneys! You got to love winter flying in small planes. Spent way too many years checking the snow banks to see if my tips would clear. Or using a Mutt (not a dog) to break away ice that froze in front of my sliding hangar doors. My favorite was the Ice Capades. Flew down to Erie, PA to help another Mooney owner retrieve his J on a sunny winter day. Get back to my home airport to find that the snow on sides of the runway melted and refroze as the sun was going down. Got to learn what aerodynamic braking is all about... I don't miss my bottle of Prist or the sprayer I had filled with IPA. Ah, those were the days! Quote
Marauder Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 Well, at least your dog would fit in..... Is her name "Bo"? Here name is Lucy. As in crazy Lucy Ricardo. Quote

Uh....make him an offer! It's been off/on the market for awhile. Very nice place, but it's the most expensive house on the block.... Quote
Mooneymite Posted November 18, 2014 Author Report Posted November 18, 2014 You got to love winter flying in small planes. I don't. Not in small planes, not in any planes. I got stuck in UGN when the wind-chill was -40 last winter. We're more realistic about cold weather flying: You don't fly when the temperature in degrees F is lower than your age in years. 1 Quote

They're just too pretty, and probably too closely resemble the horses I grew up training and cherishing. In the northeast they have become pretty domesticated because people are just not hunting as much. As a result they end up getting killed on the highways on a regular basis. Nothing saddens me more than coming up on a deer that has been clipped and is laying in the road in obvious duress. There also has been a higher incident of people getting killed as deer end up through the windshield of cars (not to mention that few guys here have hit them on runways). Quote
