Marauder Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 You didn't forget that it was uphill, both ways. We were only in Muskegon one winter ('66-67) but it was a good one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Blizzard_of_1967 It snowed every day for a Biblical 40 days and 40 nights. Kid stuff I lived in Buffalo during this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blizzard_of_1977 Also was in the area where we got 90 inches during that storm. The winds were unbeliveable and caused a lot of drifting. I can still remember the Buffalo Evening News showing a picture of the snow they had taken out by railroad cars and delivered to Florida. People were building snowmen in swimsuits. Too funny. 1 Quote
Bob_Belville Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 Never go first in a bragging contest. But in the '67 blizzard I was stranded with my boss at a Holiday Inn in Lansing. Ken Folger and I had driven my Austin Healey Sprite (= MG Midget) from Muskegon 200 miles east to Ann Arbor for a 1 day seminar. No change of clothes. We left for home early as the snow was getting heavier. But we got only as far as Lansing where I parked under the front awning of the motel. The next morning we could see only the tip of the Sprite's radio antenna. The only vehicles that moved in Lansing for 3 days were National Guard tanks pressed into service for medical emergencies. 1 Quote
rockydoc Posted August 14, 2014 Report Posted August 14, 2014 When I purchased my old M20B, it had a cover with it that was incredible. My bird would sit out on the tarmac in the Mexican sun at the ocean and when we would take the cover off and open the cabin door, lo and behold, it was COOL inside. This always amazed me. The cover was decades old and showing signs of wear and fading so I looked for a tag on it to find out where it had been purchased. Luckily enough, I found the info, Googled the name, went to the website and was amazed at the reasonable price. Bruce's covers charges charges $520 for a basic M20 series cover and its not even lined. The one from www.airplane-covers.com is made out of Subrella (the best fabric available in my humble opinion) and lined with a 3M insulating fabric and was only $274.95 including taxes and shipping. WOW! is all I can say. It is a small family owned business. Mac and Kathy are the owners. I can't believe what a positive experience it was. They had my new, Sunbrella, custom made with all antennae, thermometer mods and zipper, etc. to me in one week (I sent them my old cover to avoid any mismeasurements on my part). I can't say enough good things about them. So, if any of you are looking to buy a top quality product from super nice folks at a great price, check them out> sales@airplane-covers.com or 906 343 6664. Cheers 1 Quote
AlanA Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 I purchased a Bruce cover about a year ago. Fits my J perfectly. Material is thick and seems to be of good quality. The snaps make it easy. It was a little more expensive than some of the others that I was looking at, and I almost went with a cheaper one. However, after seeing the cheap cover my buddy has I am glad I spent the extra cash for a cover I think will last. Quote
Awqward Posted August 17, 2014 Report Posted August 17, 2014 G'Day Tommy, since you are looking to import you may want to look at Cambrai covers here in the UK....excellent fit for Mmoneys... http://www.cambraicovers.com Anthony Quote
AmigOne Posted August 17, 2014 Report Posted August 17, 2014 www.planecover.com This is my 3rd cover with them. Excellent workmanship and durable material. Rarely seen but you send them the style and measurements for your airplane and they don't even require a credit card or prepayment. You send them a check after you receive and are satisfied with the finish product. Never seen that before. Quote
