RJBrown Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 There are two things you never do in a Mooney ; Land before it is ready to stop flying. Take off before its ready to fly. Sounds like another Yogism. Common sence usually does. Holding one off till it wants to land and holding it down till it insists on flying both work better that forcing it down or up. 2 Quote
Seth Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Any updates? I know the plane is sitting nex to the maintenance hanger on the grass where it was towed and craned into position. Any updates on the pilot and passengers health? -Seth Quote
Shadrach Posted October 1, 2013 Report Posted October 1, 2013 http://www.ntsb.gov/aviationquery/brief.aspx?ev_id=20130903X84628&key=1 Gear down and Flaps in the full down position....sigh... Either the NTSB investigator misspoke, or the pilot was enlisting a technique I'm unfamiliar with. Quote
John Pleisse Posted October 1, 2013 Author Report Posted October 1, 2013 Full flap and no flap t/o's when they happen should end up being non-events with instant feedback. However, near gross weight, 85 degree day, out a 2400 foot strip..........well. Hope they all recovered. Quote
carusoam Posted October 1, 2013 Report Posted October 1, 2013 Not enough HP to lift all the weight and overcome the drag... Full flaps is not part of Mooney T/O procedures for either C or R anyways... See if that observation stands up in the final record. Best regards, -a- Quote
Hank Posted October 1, 2013 Report Posted October 1, 2013 Full flaps is certainly not in my Book, and if I ever forget and do one again, I know to give lots of forward yoke and reach my pinkie out to hit the flap switch and bring them up . . . Otherwise it's a really fast "up" elevator with a ridiculous deck angle . . . and it levitates into the air earlier than I like to rotate. Quote
