  1. Aren't the mags supposed to be sealed on the 231s? I would look at the mags. I couldn't imagine water taking that long to show up and then mysteriously go away.
  2. BTW — I saw you flew back to XLL. Did you get the issue resolved? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  3. I think I had a pickup once that looked like that... Just kept buying parts from the junkyard as parts rotted off.
  4. Oops. Did that slip out of my phone?!

  6. Ok canary man, let's see what a real J looks like!
  7. What is different on mine is there are screws all the way around the windshield. No rivets at all. My side windows as well are screwed in.
  8. How about a little teaser? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  9. You want me to post a picture of your canary? Yours doesn't look like a J either.
  10. Not yet, I am still searching for someone's to steal.
  11. You may want to check to see he wired up the MFD for Nav capability. Would be a shame if he didn’t. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  12. No. To address the apparent need to have a third CDI in the plane. Your Aspens can provide dual HSIs to different Nav sources. Yet, I see another CDI in the plane. If you don't need the third CDI with its corresponding AI, I would not install it.
  13. Yes Bob, I am a holy man. Even my 201 windshield is holy. Is your windshield screwed or riveted in? Send some close up photos of what it looks like after paint? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  14. I knew that was coming. How about I twist this around? A daily picture until someone sends the information? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  15. My plane originally only had the side window mounted OAT gauge. The OAT shown in my picture the JPI 900’s probe. I have additional ones in the RSMs for the Aspens. What is interesting is that I always observe the Aspen will show a few degrees warmer than the JPI. I remember reading on our site the discussion about leading edges being warmer at higher speeds but I guess we just ain’t that fast [emoji3063] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  16. Not sure what year your Mooney is (Tapatalk hides the avatar information). From talking with someone at Mooney right after I bought my Mooney in 1991, I was told the red sealant was introduced as a protective covering over the original sealant used in earlier Mooneys. When I did the pre-buy on my Mooney, in addition to an active leak, I had a tank full of red worms. It was this red sealant that was breaking down and coming off in streamers. I have no idea if this was a factory installed sealant or one that was being used in the field to stop leaks. Either way, I ended up having the tanks converted to bladders. 17. Oopsie. I forgot to remove your vacuum system and move for Aspen switches over. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  18. I think you are looking pretty good. Here are some decision points that you may want to consider: 1) What color do you want the final panel to be? I like the color on the left and I think it will look great if the whole panel is this color. It will also be easier for the avionics shop to the labeling and placards. 2) With the Max installed, I would get rid of all non required instruments. The ASI definitely. 3) I would move the Aspen PFD over to be directly over the yoke. I am doing this in my next upgrade. 4) With the Aspens moved, you will have space to the left of the PFD to install your engine monitor. I personally would do what I did and install a JPI 900 and eliminate all of the primary gauges you want. I added EI MP, FP/FF and RPM to backup the JPI on the right side. Those in my opinion are more critical than a short term loss of fuel gauges, etc. I see you already have one EI over there. You can the MP, FP-5L and drop the factory gauge completely. 5) The Aspen 2000 gives you the ability to run a second HSI on the MFD. If you are worried about redundancy, install a G5, Sandel Quattro or ESI-500. I would definitely drop the CDI. 6) Move the switches from the right side to underneath the engine monitor. There will be room for rockers, but I would not go with Klixon breaker types. I would use Piper rockers (with remote breakers) or toggles of the same size. I have a mixed set and am considering moving to toggles with integrated breakers. Lot cheaper than the rockers. 7) I made provision for your new STEC 3100. You are getting one right?! With that sitting in the center stack, you can drop your turn coordinator. 8) The only question that would remain is whether or not the 3100 will fit in the center stack on top. If not, I would move the Bendix King 155 to the right side and bump up the transponder. If you are like me, the 2nd com is a true backup. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  19. And what color glass did you go with? Can you post a picture of new and old side by side? Loved to see that comparison. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  20. I can see them. Your old glass looks very similar to mine. I noticed you still have fiberglass under the windows. I would do SB-208 while you have the panels out. Hopefully your old windows didn’t leak and your new windows shouldn’t if they are sealed correctly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

  22. If any of you have time and would be willing to do me a favor, I would appreciate if you could stop by LP Aero Plastics and Great Lakes Aero's booths to see what kind of show special they are running for glass for a 1975 F model. Looking for single pane rear windows, two side front windows (with vent windows on both sides) and a 201 windshield. Just need an idea what discount is being offered and a contact number so I can place an order. In exchange, I promise not to post any more pretty lady pictures for the next, er, ah, 3 months.
  23. Thanks Tim. It's on my list before I do the glass and before the paint. Did you go with Great Lakes?
  24. Thanks for fixing that a, I wasn't going to tackle it. So Alan, now I know what you have been up to. Packing away avionics like a squirrel does nuts in the Fall. You got a list of all the items?
  25. Sounds like reality is starting to happen. Maybe those Don Kaye quotes are legit. Probably will lead to an increase of this when owners start seeing the quotes.
