  1. Well, it looks like on June 2nd he was hanging out with his family and girlfriend in Japan: https://twitter.com/SoloFlight2013
  2. Something must have happened. He has not updated his website in a bit either. http://www.solo2013.com
  3. Found them: Mooney 201 43.5" 44.5" Beechcraft V35 Bonanza 42.0" 50.0" Cessna 182 42.0" 48.0" Piper Arrow 41.0" 45.0" Cirrus SR20/22 49" width 50" height Heck! Looks like if I bought a Cirrus I didn't need to lose the 75 pounds!
  4. Looks like every mechanic has their preference for a location... Thanks for reply.
  5. Becca -- it just feels to me that the CU, being the lien holder, feels they are entitled to their share of the proceeds from the insurance claim. Is it possible that you work with an authorized repair shop or independent mechanic and have them submit a bill that matches the proceeds of the insurance claim and you pay them for the portion of their effort? You would be sub-contracted for providing the required materials and labor. If you cannot afford the material cost, pay them an uplift for their handling portion of this activity (cost of their money). The bill would be reflective of the usage of their facilities, "technical" services, parts acquisition or any other activity that matches your settlement claim. You do the work under the auspices of the authorized repair shop or mechanic and they submit the bill on your behalf. They can make some money for their effort. Obviously, you need a trusting relationship with the shop or mechanic to be reimbursed for your costs and labor. You are caught in a rough spot with the CU.
  6. Hmmm... Wonder why mine didn't go into the cool air scoop too...
  7. We won't certainly do that! They were $25 15 years ago.
  8. Here is the picture of the yoke clamp. I thought there were two different types, but it looks like ball is just oriented to the side to allow for the screw to go in a vertical orientation.
  9. Interesting. Thanks! Wonder where JPI says to mount it. Will need to go find the installation instructions...
  10. You missed my joke! Robert, as in the Robert in all the threads! The one FlyDave thinks is also skynewbie.
  11. Transforming my panel from old school to new school.
  12. From the album: Panel Transformation - Almost Complete

This was how the avionics shop tried to leave my "finished" panel.
  13. From the album: Panel Transformation - Almost Complete

This is what the center console looked like after the avionics shop finished their installation cleanup.
  14. From the album: Panel Transformation - Almost Complete

After the Aspen, GTN and PMA were installed, I added a JPI 830 and installed a set of EI primary gauges to replace the older analog versions. This is in the middle of that process using templates (the gauges are housed in a temp panel to check for spacing, etc.).
  15. From the album: Panel Transformation - Almost Complete

Stopped at the avionics shop after they got started. Moment of panic when I saw what my plane looked like!
  16. I will agree with you on the lunch. Instead of eating the slop served in our company cafeteria, I would have walked across the street to the 4 star restaurant.
  17. Too easy to search the FAA database and assume a Mooney owner's identity. I think an IP specific identification or a confirmation registration process is the only thing that will provide some sort of identity confirmation. Tell me you are not really Robert
  18. Nope... The Aspens each have their own sensor: The Mooney is that lovely "through the side window" mechanical gizmo and the JPI has it's own -- which brings up a question. Where did the mechanic mount your JPI OAT probe? Mine is on the wing!
  19. From the album: Panel Transformation - Almost Complete

Rest of the right side transformation. Includes new panel to house new EI RPM, MP and my existing FP-5. Also added room for new row of breakers if needed.
  20. From the album: Panel Transformation - Almost Complete

New JPI, GTN 650 and a new panel including supports.
  21. From the album: Panel Transformation - Almost Complete

This is the "final" left image view. The AP switches will have a new overlay installed shortly.
  22. You Canadians and your Molson Extra Stock! Schlitz, Pabst Blue Ribbon or Genesee Cream Ale not good enough for ya? -- don't blame you! I do know one thing, I never got so drunk so fast other than my trip to Toronto a few years ago -- can't remember which high test version I drank, hell, I can't even remember the night -- let alone how I got back to my hotel room...
  23. Brett -- if I read things right, 168k true, 24/2490 power setting and 11.7ish GPH burn. Did I get that right? Do you find it flys faster with a sleeping wife in the back? If so, I may stash mine back there.
  24. Sure. These pictures were taken after the EI RPM gauge was installed but before the JPI. They were all done with the AP on flying GPSS and holding altitude. I don't trust myself taking pictures while flying. Sort of like texting and driving And you got some explaining to do why your J does the speeds it does! I think it is slow for a J. What power settings are you running to settle in at 150k?
  25. I forgot to post these for you... After I had the new EI RPM gauge installed, I played with several RPM settings on the new gauge (me likey digital). (Throttle WO & ROP) Here is what my TAS looked like at the different RPM settings: 2400 RPMs: 2500 RPMS: 2700 RPMS (actually 2690 ) As I explained to Cruiser, no idea why my F is as strong as it is. It does have most of the J mods installed by a previous owner. Useful load is 960. It also has a strong powerplant -- always has been a great climber. Now that I have digital gauges for everything, I can't blame errors on the old stuff -- the new stuff matches the performance. Certainly isn't the CamGuard -- I don't use it. Certainly isn't LOP -- still haven't tried it. And it certainly isn't the Parrots -- had them for lunch. Yummy
