  1. That RAM air opening is something... Something I wouldn't want. Looks like someone puckering up for a kiss.
  2. I have an operational limit between 2100 and 2350 on my F model with the IO-360 A1A. It is very difficult for me not to be in that range when I am slowing down on downwind going into the pattern. I do not note any vibration being in that range (nothing that I can feel in the cockpit). If you have a noticeable vibration and/or shake, something is going on.
  3. Wonder how he is trying to apply the rule on an asset that can have decent residual value in 40 years.
  4. Thanks Bill! It's getting late and I forgot to make it public. Should work now.
  5. Made a YouTube video of the "Mooney Invasion". You can find the video here: Unfortunately my HQ HD camcorder may have met it's demise. My apologies for the lower quality video. Here are a few pictures from the day as well:
  6. Think of them as missed approaches....
  7. I think we should have a poll on which of Mike's polls we liked the least. Then another poll on the one we like the best.
  8. Brett -- I surveyed every Mooney pilot that landed yesterday and have confirmed between the terrain (trees lining one side of the runway) and the bumpy runway, everyone had a bit of a challenge. The winds were light too! It just confirmed that not all of my bad landings there were me! I agree that Mike struggled with his AOA landing since it was yelling at him "land, er, don't land, er, land, er don't land, better land" (he had 3 from my count). Doc struggled with his landing because he probably saw your picture perfect take-off and it rattled him, Alan's tank (Bo) seemed to not to mind anything, Doug's Mooney did a bit of a carrier landing and I missed Tim & Larry's landing but their take-off was nice. I will post the videos later today. Unfortunately, it looks like my HQ HD camcorder died during your take-off (I'm claiming it has to do with your heavy electronic inteference from all that stuff you had onboard). I was forced to use my lower quality HD camera that struggles with moving objects. Too bad you couldn't stay longer. When that 2007 R showed up, it was a beauty to look over.
  9. It was nice to see some of you again and to meet others for the first time! I have some pictures and videos that I will post once I get them transferred from my backup camera. Brett -- you MAY have gotten away with no videos of you. Since you arrived early, I didn't get to record your landing and if my video camera did in fact die, I missed your take-off But I will say that your take-off was like I expected - professionally done. Ironically, as you were leaving Alan arrived in his Bonanza and Allsmiles in his Mooney (loved that paint job, simply beautiful). A little later Doug showed up from the DC area in his 231.
  10. LOL! Heck, you're based at the same place as him! Find him and make him go!
  11. We should take a poll to see if this picture looks like the dentist!
  12. He won't show... Heck, he hasn't been on the forum for a bit either.
  13. He doesn't have a chance being dressed like Howdy Doody. For you young guns:
  14. Well, there is always room at my house for an extended stay. May need to use one room if Mike ODs on maple syrup.
  15. I don't know Alan if this is a good move, will it get you here fast enough not to miss Brett? I would love to see the forked tail devil!
  16. Well Big Guy! I'm going to make sure I do a good job of capturing your landing.
  17. Ok. I heard from Brett & Mike (and friend) who are coming. I think Alan is coming as well. If anyone else is, let me know. I will make a video of your landing. And then we can run another poll to see who lands a Mooney the best!
  18. Slow down! I am having a hard time keeping up with your new posts! Good one! Still like your poll one better
  19. NOW that is a very Polesome looking picture.
  20. All righty then... I just got off of the phone with Aspen and have a much better understanding of what they will (operative word) offer when they release the CG50 (due out in 3rd quarter ~Septemberish). Here is what I learned. The CG50 is a WiFi interface box that is hardwired to the MFD. If you have a WiFi ADS-B antennae, it will share (another operative word) the antennae with whatever portable application you are running. It is not compatible with the Garmin GDL-39 because 1) they use a proprietary data stream between the antennae and the Garmin Pilot app and 2) it is a Bluetooth protocol, not WiFi. So how does it work? Simple, you can run any app that you want that uses a WiFi based antennae. The CG50 picks up only (another operative word) the weather portion of that signal. So, if you use a Stratus 2, it will read the ADS-B weather information but not the traffic and display it on your MFD. Cool, but not complete. They told me the ATX ADS-B panel mounted stuff will be available around the same timeframe. This will include 3 flavors to support planes with and without a WAAS receiver and/or "out" capabilities. I also learned that Connected Pilot which only works partially with the 430/530 and does not work with the GTN series will work with the future (another operative word) offerings from Avidyne (the 540) and the Bendix King 770. They are in active collaboration with them on it. So -- I'm back to where I started. Brett and Mike will be here tomorrow. So hopefully I will get to see their stuff before Mike drags Brett around the patch to show him his AOA.
  21. The challenge of Tapatalk. You don't see everything. Thanks Hank!
  22. Think of the potential damage if that fell off into the cylinder... Yikes!
  23. Who is Stacey? Work for Mooney?
  24. And that is indeed the rub Dave. Keeping your portfolio on proprietary technology gives you the control over the solution and the quality. Hilton is moving with the open hierarchy as is Aspen. The difference with Aspen is that they have the engineers needed to evaluate as well as the requirement to make it FAA approved. These non TSOd solutions don't have that requirement and if they don't do the due diligence for the testing, we own it as users. That said, ForeFlight and Pilot have had their fair share of "updates" to correct issues as well. I'm starting to dig into the Aspen solution a bit deeper. They have me a bit confused on the CG50.
