  1. Slick or dated, the king material is kept continually up to date. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. In fairness King actually does a good job updating the videos online. That’s why their ages jump all over. I’ve used them for instrument commercial and ATP, with good results. It’s the FAA tests that dont change much over the years... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Now that’s how it’s done Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I don’t think the releases are semicircles shaped like the top of three inch instrument holes, are they? Look at a bunch of aspen install pictures and there are the old instrument holes peeking above the aspens... I’ll have to look closer next time I see one in person. I know what the lever looks like... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. That’s my point, I wouldn’t want to see the underlying cutouts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. This? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Pet peeve, on it seems like every aspen install, including the one just posted, you can see the very top sliver of the old instrument openings at the top of the aspens. Are installers too lazy to tidy this up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What’s that saying, all show, no go... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I disagree. They shouldn’t do much at landing speeds and angles of attack. In fact they do so little that to certify them they confirmed that even at Vx and Vy on a go around they don’t do much. They require lower angles of attack/higher speeds - look at their size and position back on the wing... Won’t hurt to leave em out, but never seemed to be much of a difference in my Ovation. 11. Yes different services use different private networks of ADSB receivers. Basically it’s crowdsourced. I’ve found Flightradar24 to be very good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I think you’re perfect, and a Mooney is a good airplane for your mission and to get your instrument in. Find a good plane and that annual budget is way more than you’ll need. And there are good Mooneys to be found at that price point. Welcome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Because you haven’t turned on the “position only flights” feature. You log in and change it in your settings and now you’ll see em all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Frankly I don’t know if there are *any* GA light aircraft based at LGA... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I have no idea. But I sure wouldn’t take my Mooney in there. Unless you’re an airline pilot and know what’s up. And even then.... just imho Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Someone bases a Baron at LGA? I fly for an airline flying C402s into BOS/ORD/STL etc, and Id be afraid to take my mooney in there. They really don’t want us there! I’d fly to FRG and Uber. Would be cheaper and lower stress... Sheltair at FRG is great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Oh and the $100 per 15 min parking fees https://www.panynj.gov/airports/pdf/scheduleofcharges-lga.pdf Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. In a Mooney? Why LGA? Aware of the slot reservation system? https://www.fly.faa.gov/ecvrs/index.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Eventually yes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. You’re cute but not helpful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Yep it even works *on* the ground at big airports. You don’t need the radar you just need to be in reception distance. Big benefit in mountainous terrain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. You can’t get a Dynon d2, because they released the very nice D3 at Oshkosh. I have a panel docked D1. Backup AI display on an iPad or iPhone is a non starter for me. https://www.gulfcoastavionics.com/products/4367-d3-pocket-panel-portable-efis.aspx Lynx 9000+ and D1.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Seriously look at the avidyne/L3 lynx/aspen combo.... I LOVE my Lynx and have considered the other two, especially now with the update from aspen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Lighting is everything with low approaches. When it’s 2400 RVR or so or less, you won’t have threshold lights in sight at minimums and will have to continue down the additional hundred feet based on the lead in lights. If all the lights aren’t bright you won’t see them at all in that kind of visibility. Big runways are good because of 1) bigger clear area, 2) just wider and longer 3) usually lead in lights (eg SSALR at ACK 24) and have 4) high intensity with centerline and touchdown zone lights... 25. Nantucket airport is where it is because the military needed to train pilots to do low approaches. They picked literally the worst weather foggiest patch of land in the USA. Having said that I’m flying in there four times today, all beautiful VFR so dont jinx me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
