  1. SOLD! For sale are brand new, never installed AMSAFE seat belts with an inertial reel shoulder harness. They are gray in color. These retail new for around $400 each. I have a complete set, that is, pilot and pax side that I am selling for $200 per side, or seat. That means you can have a full set (pilot and pax side) for $400, the cost of 1 if you bought it from Amsafe! These can be installed on Mooney models M20B-M20J where no previous shoulder harness was installed. It only requires a $35 "minor change" hardware kit from Alpha Aviation that comes with install instructions and paperwork. Shipping is a flat $16 whether you buy 1 set or both.
  2. Thanks for the clarification Alan!
  3. SOLD! Up for sale is a pair of tail root horizontal fairings from Mooney. They are new and in perfect condition. They came with the plane when I bought it and I realize that I will more than likely never install them. As Alan said, they were purchased from Wilmar. Part number 350186-003 and 004 is stamped on them. Selling for $200 and that includes shipping.
  4. Thanks for all the info guys. I'll give Brittain a call and see what they say. I'm wondering if it;s going to end up being more trouble than it's worth. I'll let everyone know what I hear from them and what my A&P thinks as well. It would sure be nice to have something!
  5. Thanks Kerry and Alan. I guess I'll give Brittain a call and see what they say. I might try to find a junked Mooney and see about getting the guts out of it and having Brittain service it. I'll see...
  6. I'm wondering what kind of time and money I would be looking at to add a wing leveler to my B model. It's a great cross country plane and is stable, but even having the old wing leveler would make things so much nicer. How easy are those systems to find (in working condition) and what kind of price do they go for. Does anyone have a guess on what kind of time it would take to install?
  7. Another vote on the Halos. They are a GREAT headset. I love not having the sweat rolling down from the earcups in the hot summer. They make me feel so much cooler too. Also, they're so comfortable that I forget that I have them on. They're good for people like me who wear glasses. If I take off in the muck and wear my regular glasses and then breakout into the sunny sky about a layer, it's very quick and easy to switch to sunglasses. Get the Halos!!
  8. I should clarify that I get the very high CHT temps on #3 and #4 cyls. The front 2 run just fine. The Insight G2 has a probe diagnostic page and all the probes are working just fine.
  9. Well, I am having the same exact problem. I have an Insight G2 and can't figure out why I'm getting such high CHTs on climbout. I hit 490 on #4 cyl last summer on a really hot day. I was panicking! I always climb at WOT, full rich and I normally use 2500 RPM. I also climb at 120MPH+. That day, I leveled off, tried climbing faster, pulled out power, increased power, played with the RPM. I tried everything and it just wouldn't cool down until I was leveled off in cruise. Then #3 and #4 are my hottest and run anywhere from 340-370 in cruise. I got 430 deg on #4 cyl climbing out today. It was about 43 degrees outside, I was climbing full rich, WOT and max RPM at 120mph with cowl flaps open. Couldn't get the temp down until level off. That's way too hot for such a cool day. I talked with my mechanic and we're going to check the timing of the mags. I'm also wondering about my WOT fuel flow and maybe that it's too lean. I can't remember off hand what it is, but I'm thinking about 14gph. Oh, and the oil temp always seems to be fine. The engine runs great. I just don't want something to fail prematurely because of such high CHTs.
  10. Thanks Paula! Thanks Tom. I want to IR for the pilot side, but I'm just wondering if that big IR reel will get in the way on the passenger side when rear passengers are boarding and deboarding.
  11. If you don't mind me asking, what were the 2012 prices? I'm about to order some myself. Still unsure if I want to IR or fixed.
  12. Hubcaps are sold. Ashtrays are still available. I am also selling 3 ashtrays that I removed when I upgraded the plane's interior. They're in pretty good condition, but they do have some rust. You might get a really good deal on these. If someone is interested, make an offer.
  13. This actually made me laugh out loud!! Hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. This actually sounds like a very good solution!
  14. I am selling a set of Mooney jack points. They are not the threaded ones that have a tie-down ring attached. Rather, you just insert them to jack and remove when finished. They're an extra set and I'm trying to clean out the hangar. $27 and that includes shipping.
  15. Try David Bliss at McCauley Aviation just outside of Nashville. He maintains my Mooney along with a few others based on the field. Very honest, reasonable guy. PM me if you want more details or if I can help at all. I'm 30min outside of Nashville.
  16. I upgraded to the G2 from a GEM610 back in July. I love the new unit. The G2 is MUCH shorter than the 610. (maybe half the length) I was able to use all my same probes. I did the upgrade and sent my old unit back to them. They also sent me the signal adapter to pick up signal from the JPI Fuel Flow 450 transducer, so now I have fuel flow on 2 gauges. It's worked great and looks so much better and sharper than the old 610. If you have an A&P friend, see if he would order it for you and you could save quite a bit of money. I think it was a $400 savings to go through my A&P. To get him to do it, I told him I'd split the amount I saved with him. So he got $200 cash and I still saved $200. Again, I really like it!
  17. Quote: rbridges It's actually not that hard. My A&P came by with a chisel and a hammer and had it off in less than 2 minutes. I love little tricks like that!
  18. Quote: rbridges I'm voting vacuum pump. I was helping my IA, and I have to think it's some kind of cruel joke. Three of the nuts are easy to access, but the 4th is buried where no tool really works. Honestly, to remove something held on by 4 nuts takes a few hours to remove.
  19. It's actually not too bad. I replaced the headliner in my plane last year. You have to take the side window plastic panels off and also the metal trim that's around the windsheild. From there, just start removing the thing starting in the front and working back. It's not fun, but doable. I would take the front seats out as it makes working and moving in there much easier. I had to do this twice since I started putting the new headliner up and got to the last section only to find that the lady had sewed it on backwards! I had to take the whole thing back down, have her resew that little piece and then reinstall the whole thing. I feel like a pro at it now!
  20. I am selling my trusty Garmin GPSMAP 295. The unit is in very good condition. There are no scratches on the screen. It powers up and runs perfectly on batteries or with the 12v power plug. It comes with the unit, manual, stick antenna, remote puck antenna, 12v cig lighter cable, cable to hard wire into plane and yoke mount. I'm asking $250 and that includes shipping. Please PM or email with any questions.
  21. I have decided to sell my Dual XGPS150. It's a really cool little unit. I have only used the thing about 4-5 times and it worked great each time. It's in perfect condition. I am selling because I am planning on purchasing the new ADS-B weather receiver which has a built in GPS. Sold!
  22. Oh, that's another thing. The pilot told me that's an F model. Stupid news media. A quick google search show that the J model wasn't produced in 1969.
  23. I haven't seen this posted anywhere:http://www.newschannel5.com/story/17586009/small-plane-crashes-near-houston-county-airport It's amazing that everyone only had minor injuries with as bad as the plane looks. The cabin area sure remained intact. The crazy thing is, I was at Humphreys Co. Airport that morning and spoke with Jay about 30min before he went down. I even checked out his plane. I was really upset when I found out. When I made it back to my home base, everyone was terrified that it was me who crashed since they knew I was flying in that area that morning and they heard that a Mooney went down. You can imagine their relief when they found out I was OK. Houston Co. Airport is a pretty tricky little airport. It's down in a valley and on downwind, you feel like you're only a couple hundred feet AGL. It's only 3000' long which is short if you're used to 5000'+ runways. I'm glad everyone is safe! Here are some pics: http://photos.newschannel5.com/displayimage.php?album=483&pos=0
  24. I emailed LASAR last week about the retrofit cost since I want to change to yokes to the newer style on my plane. They said the retrofit kit runs $3500-$4000. Why in the world would it cost that much?! Oh well, sounds like I'm keeping the ugly old yokes I have now unless someone can find a cheaper alternative.
  25. We're planning on going this year. It will be our first time to not only be flying in in the Mooney, but my first time ever having gone. We're planning on camping too. We want the whole experience!
