  1. I'm not sure if this is the same things, but Spruce has them for much cheaper at $43.95 per light: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/nulite.php If you do a google image search for "Nulite panel lights", it's amazing how much better a panel looks and how much easier it is to see the gauges with them installed. This is going to be one of the first things I do when I get my Mooney.
  2. Quote: n74795 I have a 61 B model , and am considering moving into a bonanza , Is It more economical for me to part out my B than to spend two years trying to sell it and maybe getting 30K , I have a 430 , MX20 , Sl70 and Sandel 3308 etc that I can move into the beech , That probably will save me 10K , The engine is a 300 hour Matituck that I believe is worth at least 12 to 13 K , O&N bladders that are 3 years old , maybe 4k , Hartzell no AD prop 300 since new Maybe 5K , SWTA 201 panel mod maybe 3K and maybe 3 or 4 K for whats left of the airframe , Do these numbers seem realistic , any input would be greatly appreciated , I will know about the beech in a week or two... Again any input would be greatly appreciated....
  3. Same exact thing just happened to me... I don't remember the username though, but it wasn't mine.
  4. Well, it makes me think it could have been flooded by the fact that he said all upgrades were done at Colemil. They were (notice I used "were") at Cornelia Fort Airpark in Nashville until it flooded in May of last year. Dozens of aircraft were flooded and they are out of business now along with the whole airport being closed. I sure hope somebody doesn't get ripped off!
  5. What a lot of good information! I'm taking the written this week as well as scheduling the checkride. I'm going to focus on that and then start obsessing over Mooneys again!
  6. Thank you both for the great info. It sounds like I might be a little too ambitious and I may need to just slow down a little. I think I should try to work on getting my complex endorsement first. Doug, I have talked with the guys at both the JWN and MQY Wings of Eagles and they seem really nice. I almost went to JWN for my PPL training, but ended up doing it here at M91 Springfield since I live 5 min from the field. I also have some great news on the Mooney training front! I spoke with someone at Volunteer Aviation located at Oulaw Field in Clarksville and they have an older Mooney with a Johnson Bar that they rent wet for $110 an hour!! The guy I spoke with wasn't sure what model it is, but he said that the instructor up there can get me my complex in an actual Mooney. Not only that, it's $10 an hour cheaper than the 172 I'm renting now. I was on cloud 9 when I heard that!! If the weather clears up, I might try to schedule an hour next week. (Even though I need to just work on passing my checkride!) Thanks again both of you all for your great advice!
  7. Hi all. I have been lurking around these boards for a while now and have finally decided to start posting. I have been bit by the Mooney bug. I have been looking for the past couple of months and as soon as I find the right one, I'm pulling the trigger. I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a good instructor in the Nashville area. I am about 3 hours away from my PPL checkride. As soon as I find my Mooney, I want to start working on my IR. I would also need to get 15 hours or so dual before I could fly solo since it's a complex. Any suggestions?
  8. That's awesome! I'm in the Nashville area and I'll see if I can hitch a ride with somebody over this way that's going. One way or another, I'll be there. I wish in my own Mooney though... hopefully soon!
  9. Hi Jeff, I am in the same situation as you. I have been lurking around these forums for quite a while now and searching the adds. I've been looking at the F and C models, but as you, am thinking the C will do for me. Anyway... I was interested in that same airplane. In fact, I call the guy back around the middle of December. The owner seemed pretty nice. If I remember right, he has retired and can't afford to fly anymore. I expressed my concern over the high time engine and he just kept brushing it off saying that it had hundres more hours left in it. I told him that I was still concered and wasn't crazy about the idea of spening quite a bit in a year or two on a new engine. Anyway, he volunteered to email all the logs in PDF format. I told him that that would be great, but for some reason he never did. After never receiving the logs, I said screw it. One thing to keep in mind though is that I saw this plane in an earlier add back in November and he said in that add that he would be willing to negotiate the price based on having to put a new engine in the plane. Who knows, maybe he's changed his mind since then! Good luck on your search!
