  1. I have my commercial checkride scheduled for tomorrow and I'm starting to feel the stress. I called the examiner this morning to get info on the CC portion and he told me to calculate takeoff and landing distances and runway length required. I told him that my airplane is 50 years old and the owner's manual doesn't have that data. I don't think he wanted to believe me. So he told me he was going to look into it. I talked to him about an hour later and he said that he called the FSDO and that the inspector was confused and wasn't sure if my plane even qualifies to be used on an FAA checkride. Crazy, eh? So I looked at the PTS again and the M20B DOES qualify to be used on a checkride. So, the examiner asked me how I know if I have enough RWY for take off and landing and that I had to answer that tomorrow. So that's my question. How do I know? I've flown the airplane at gross many time in hot weather and a 4000'-5000' RWY has been plenty long. I've even landed and departed at a 2000' grass strip a couple of times (not at gross) and been fine. How do you think I should respond to the DPE?? Thanks!!
  2. It's probably the landing lights. Most 121 airlines call for landing lights be turned on under 10,000'.
  3. Hello all. I am selling 1 Nav database update for the Garmin 400/500 Non-WAAS series units. Nav data will be valid for Dec 12 - Jan 09 and covers the full USA. Asking $50. I currently don't have a spare data card, so if you have the Skybound reader, I will give you a temp password to login to the update software. If you want to wait, you're welcome to send me your data card and I'll update it the same day it comes in and get it right back out. Please let me know if you have any questions.
  4. After looking at eBay again, I have decided to lower the price to $175.
  5. I did take it to the Apple store. They don't repair the glass on the Mini's. It was going to be around $200 for me to trade it in. Yes, you can find some iPad mini's for under $200 on Ebay. They normally have terribly shattered screens, large dents on the corners and don't come with a charger.
  6. I am going to be buying a new iPad mini Retina and have decided to sell my current iPad mini. It functions perfectly and it in pretty much perfect condition other than the cracked screen. I've been using it for months with the cracked screen and don't really even notice it any more. You can buy a new screen on Ebay for about $30, but I don't have the know how to replace it. There are no dents or scratches anywhere on it other than 1 place on the left side (see pic) where the screen cover rubbed the paint off. It comes with the original box, brand new charger and cable. I'm asking $175 plus $8 shipping. I figured I'd try here before listing on Ebay. I don't know why the screen looks fuzzy/funny in this pic, but in person it doesn't look that way.
  7. This isn't exactly an airplane part, but.. With an impending move, I am trying to simplify by selling some stuff around here. I am selling a framed lithograph signed print of Keith Ferris' "The Dream Fulfilled". There were only 750 prints made of this limited edition artwork. The one I am selling is numbered 222. It comes with a certificate of authenticity. As you can see in the pictures, there are some tears in the paper backing on the frame. The glass is in perfect condition as well as the mat and print. The frame itself has some scuffs and isn't in the greatest shape, but it's not horrible by any means. Framed, it measures 33'x25'. I am asking $200 OBO. As far as shipping, I would say plan on paying between $30-40. If you are interested, I can find out exactly how much it will cost to ship to you. Let me know if anyone would like more pics. Thanks!
  8. I could use the 430 manual. I've got one in my plane, but no manual. PM sent.
  9. I'm not sure what you want. The only other sticker is on the side of the unit and just has the overhaul date, but no rating. The only indication of a rating is what is in the picture above. "Rating 12-32 VDC". Nowhere does it give the amount of current it draws.
  10. It was last overhauled by Muncie Aviation in 1999. Again, the unit is not in working condition. It makes a lot of noise when it spins up and doesn't accurately show a 3deg/sec turn. Does this picture help?
  11. I had to replace my electric turn coordinator last month and just bought a unit outright and didn't get an overhauled unit. Therefore, I'm selling my old unit as a core for $100 plus $7 shipping. Thanks!
  12. I'm dropping the price to $220 shipped.
  13. These are about 3 years old. They are stereo and have a volume control for each ear. They're in great condition!
  14. Hi guys. I have an extra headset that I've kept for passengers. Well, my wife just bought a Bose headset, so now we have an extra headset that I need to sell. It's a DC H10-60 in great shape that hasn't been used much. It's always been kept in a case when not used. I even still have the papers for it which include the parts list, electrical schematic and instructions. Selling for $235 shipped.
  15. This has got to be THE post of the year on Mooneyspace!! I can't wait to share this with everyone at the airport! LOL!!
  16. Nice video! It's great to see another B model being kept in the air. I also like how you have your original tail number. I was wondering if you tended to have those hotter CHT temps with your old engine too? I finally sealed a bunch of gaps in the doghouse and the temps went down about 10-20 degs, though they still get up to 440 or so on climb out. I hate that about the B model!
  17. I'm glad it worked for you! I absolutely love mine. I installed it and then didn't have a chance to try it out. I was coming back to Nashville from Tampa about 3 weeks ago and ended up not getting home until 11pm. When I got on short final, I couldn't stop smiling at how much brighter the runway was with the new LED light. It was great! I had a long talk with my A&P whether the 8 degree beam would be an issue since the incandescent are 10 degs. Neither of us thought it would be a problem. Sure enough, the new light seems to have a wider beam even than the old bulb and it's MUCH, MUCH brighter and lights farther. We all need to keep in mind AC 23-27 when we're looking to replace things on our vintage birds. All these little things start adding up!
  18. http://www.strobesnmore.com/Whelen-Par-46-Spotlight-Super-LED.html This is a GREAT light!! I installed mine under that AC that talks about using non-TSO'd parts in aging aircraft. It's a Whelen light, PAR46 and looks exactly the same as the aviation version, but about $100 cheaper. After shipping, my total was $140.
  19. Jeff, I guess I just assumed that when they asked for my credit card info and the site and I clicked "Place Order" that I technically ordered from TN, that I had already paid for the order and that I was just going to pick the order up down there. I just didn't put 2 and 2 together. It was a fun flight though. ATL ATC is very easy to deal with! I too was disappointed with their showroom. I was looking forward to browsing, but most of the shelves were empty. Next time I'll just pay for the shipping.
  20. Thanks for sharing this, Byron! Very, very informative!!
  21. I flew in once after placing my order online. I was pretty upset when I got there that they had not actually placed my order, but just "pulled" it. That meant that I had to pay sales tax on 3 new tires among other things. I'm from TN, so if I had just ordered online, I wouldn't have has to pay sales tax. On top of that, they had a free shipping promotion going on at the time, so I even missed out on that. Just keep that in mind if you're not from GA.
  22. I got such a good deal on these that I bought a couple of extra sets thinking that the other Mooney owners on my field would want a set. Nobody did, so I sold them on here. I kept a set for myself and will be installing them next week.
  23. Doesn't have the cover. I guess you could get one from Amsafe or Alpha maybe. These have been sold.
  24. This is a steal! I wish you would have been selling this when I bought that new $2500 exhaust from Acorn a year and a half ago. Would have saved me $$$!
