  3. Hi all. Check out this video I threw together with some footage I recorded over the past couple of months flying my B model: Some footage was filmed with my iPhone and the rest with a Drift HD cam. This was my first attempt at editing flying videos and I hope to have some up as I get more footage. Enjoy!
  4. How much did those run you? I need some new ones too.
  5. I am selling an airutopia.com DVD of the Mooney M20C Into To Flight video. I watched it 2 times and it's in new condition. It sells online for $18.95 plus shipping, but I'm selling it for $15 and that includes shipping. A preview of the video can be found here: It's a pretty good video that will at least give you an idea of what to expect in the pre-J model aircraft. (panel wise at least) Quote: - Mooney M20C in detail! - Instructor and pilot commentary - A complete flight training experience! - Detailed info on systems/ engines/ airframe Welcome aboard the Mooney M20C - one of the hottest 4 seat aircraft in the sky today! After a detailed introduction to this sporty 4 seat aircraft, you'll get a personal look inside a professional flight training center to witness some of the steps involved in earning your very own pilot's license! Complementing our popular Cessna 152 & 172 Cockpit DVDs, you'll see the challenges that are involved in moving up to a higher performance, low-wing aircraft with retractable gear ... including a classroom session, pre-flight aircraft inspection and an actual Mooney in-flight training session!
  6. Quote: sleepingsquirrel Hi Kurt, I hope you liked the vintage sales literature. I am going to make a copy of my manual and will be glad to send it to you. It's 33 pages on 8.5x11. Just resend me a mailing address. Sleepingsquirrel
  7. I actually have a copier that makes PDFs, but the problem is that my current manual is in such rough shape that I really want to have a fresh, clean scanned version to be able to print off and have bound.
  8. I need a new Owner's Manual for my 1961 B model. The one I have is falling to pieces. I found some digital versions on Ebay for about $15, but I was wondering if anyone on here would have a PDF copy that they would mind sharing with me. I searched and couldn't find anything already posted in the forum. Then again, the search function on here is pretty lousy. Thanks!
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if "Glenn" is really Keith Lange. When you own a website, you can look at it's stats and see how people were refered to your site. I bet he noticed all the hits to his site coming from this very thread. This is pure BS!
  10. Thanks for the info guys! I ended up flying almost 3 hours total on Friday and everything was just fine. I'm sure I breathed in some insulation dust from the ceiling and hopefully I won't get cancer. I was surprised at how much air was moving inside the cabin compared to when everything is installed. I was a little embarrased too when the line guy walked up and saw inside. It looks like I'm driving an old beat up car on the inside.
  11. So we have taken the headliner out as well as the back seats and side panels as part of out interior redo. I need to go to Kentucky for work and it's a 3.5 hour drive compared to a 1 hour flight. So, my question is just as in the title: Can I fly with not having the interior installed? Is it legal? I don't see that it would be a problem other than the ceiling insulation falling. I sure want to fly instead of drive!
  12. Hi all- As most of you know, I am the new proud owner of a 61' B model. I tried using the search function, but it just won't give me what I'm looking for. My question is just as the title says. What Do You Use To Track Needed Maintenance? Do you have a sheet of paper that you can add the tach time or date when something needs to be done to the plane? Do you have an app or computer program? I want to make sure I keep track of everything and don't miss something.
  13. Here is a pretty cool promo video from 1970 for LAX and surrounding airports. At 3:50 in the video, there's a shot of some people getting into an F model. It looks like that plane is still flying, but in Germany now: http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/photo/266258.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fD8iCyf9O7g&feature=related
  14. Check your email peott.
  15. I know exactly what you mean Derek. It took about 4 months of searching and every decent plane I looked at got snapped up within a few days of being listed. It was SO frustrating! When the plane I just bought came on to the market, I jumped on it really fast and looked at it within a couple of days of being listed and had the sales agreement and deposit in hand. The place that did my pre-buy also sells a lot of planes and they told me that business has steadily grown over the past 6 years. In fact, they offered me a part time broker position for the TN area. I just got my first referal (a Piper Arrow) after a week. I know some areas of the market are depressed, but other areas are still strong. Don't worry, you'll find "the one"!
  16. Quote: DrBill Kurt, If I were you , I'd pay to have it put in a hangar. I'm in Charlotte and my mechanic just called (his asst is washing and waxing it) and said they will keep it in the hangar over the weekend even tho I have an on -field hangar!!. If the hangar collapses, well, you tried your best. if you leave it out and it gets hammered by debris, you're stuck with dealing with repairs long distance. Bill, Mint Hill, NC
  17. Quote: stevesm20b Does anyone know why the B model has a gross weight 125lbs less than the C model?
  18. I'm in the same boat as Austin, but the problem with me is the plane I bought is in Norfolk! I am planning on going out Monday to pick it up and I pray that nothing happens to it on the ramp where it is now!
  19. Quote: DaV8or Well, other than to convince you to buy an airplane in the first place...
  20. Thanks for the info fellas! These forums can sure keep one from getting into some major trouble!
  21. Does anyone know of a good Mooney mechanic or at least someone who has some knowledge of Mooney's to do a pre-buy on a '61 B model? Specifically someone Richmond or Roanoke maybe? Thanks!
  22. Thanks Rich for the info. I'm going to move on!
  23. Hi guys, I've been lurking on these forums for quite a while and have learned so much while I continue the search for my Mooney. I've become very frustrated lately at the lack of good prospective aircraft out there right now. I came across a '66 E model a couple of days ago and wanted to get everyone's opinion on it. The seller had it listed for $27,000. He was planning on removing all of the radios from it. It has about 100 hours SMOH, GAMI injectors, 100 hours SMOH on 2 blade prop, various 201 speed mods and new glass. To make a long story short, I told the owner that I want the plane with the radios and panel it has in it now. It's a SUPER nice panel: Garmin 530, GNS340, Garmin xl250, Garmin transponder, stec 30 with altitude hold and wsi inflight weather, and a jpi fuel scan. He told me to make him an offer on the plane as it is now. The big problem with the plane is that it needs a new paint job and interior. It's in annual right now, so he didn't send me very good pics. Anyway, my budget was $40k, which I upted to $45k. I made the guy a low ball offer of $38k assuming there were no major issues and assuming my mechanic OK'ed it. He came back and said that he can't take less than $46k for it. I want to see if I can get him down another 2 grand to help offset the pre-buy and me getting down to KSAN. So, do you guys think the plane is worth $44k-$46k? Even though it's really more than I wanted to spend, I thought I could see if the bank would loan me $50k the help offset the cost of a paint job. Oh, and I forgot... The thing over-ran the RWY back in 2008 and the wings were substantially damaged according to the NTSB report. Makes me wonder what kind of repair was done. I'd be grateful for any advice!
